I just received my first Barbie for Christmas from my husband! I loved it, so we started looking at them and he now has bought me 5 more. I have what I wanted because they appealed to me. Now I have just bought a box of broken Barbies, pieces, heads, etc. I would like to match heads, bodies, parts and then make clothes for them to resell. Is there a book or website that someone could recommend that would guide me as to what goes with what? Also something giving me an idea of styles of clothes the diffferent Barbies wore? I never owned one as a child and only had sons, so I am clueless. I did find a Collectors guide to Vintage Barbies. But need help with newer ones and the numbers on the heads? Thanks!
My ebay user ID is garyc191. I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I love Barbie and have for a very long time. I have been sewing for approximately 30 years. But started creating and designing dresses for Barbie since 2004 with the suggestion of my granddaughter, Julie. I have met a lot of great people on ebay. I am open for any suggestions or ideas. Lets' talk Barbie & Silkstone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks, Karen
I recently purchased a barbie doll from a thrift store. As i began to clean her up i noticed a compartment in her back that I initially thought was a battery compartment. But there are no metal connectors or anything. As I continued, I found an oval, obviously factory made hole in the top of her head.. and apparently the compartment leads all the way up from her back to her head and .. out? I have been searching for days for a clue as to what she may have done or featured, and I cant find anything. I would really appreciate any help anyone could offer. Thanks!
I'm tired of seeing listings for Barbies where it's listed or described as vintage simply because of the "1966" mark on the back. One look and I can tell they are contemporary. I don't remember what I read the year meant, but I know a year like "1966" can be on a Barbie made yesterday.
I recently started collecting RARE and HTF Barbies...I purchased the 1st Oriental Barbie from 1979!!! She is sssoooo Gorgeous!!! I just love her! Anyway, I don't know what the manufacturer was thinking when they did her hairstyle, but I want mine rerooted!!! Can someone out there please help me??? Maybe recommend someone or point me in the right direction on how to learn to reroot barbies!!! Thanks for your time, I'd really appreciate it!!!
Ive seen lots of posts about people wanting a #3 ponytail barbie and was wondering why that's the one everyone wants. also where can i go to identify which ponytail i have. it seems i was told before she was a #3. i was not to concerned with her number when i got her. i just wanted one of the old ponytail barbies and i was offered a really good deal on her so i took it. i eventually want to work my way up to a #1, but i don't see that happening anytime soon....
Okay...I read and I read and I read....I actually was so stupid I thought that I understood at least some of what I read....I have purchased 3 Ponytails now and all 3 were not the dolls that were described and I am having a difficult time trying to figure out what it is that I don't get. First I purchased a #6 Titian...turns out that the book that I read says she is a #8 ?...as she has the word "patented" on her tookus after everything else is written....WHAT?!....so I loose that money...then I buy a #3......she turns out to have a hollow body.....WAIT A MINUTE...THIS CAN'T BE A NUMBER 3....maybe a 5??? what the heck...I am getting so frustrated....(and broke) and still no beautiful #3 TO ADMIRE....I an so very confused...... anniesawesmeattic
I know there have been the bigger headed Barbies out there for a long time now, but I have to get this off my chest. I actually called mattel when they first came out to express my feelings and was told that at that time they were trying to figure out what they were doing with Barbie. Since then it seems like what they have been doing is producing a few good things for us collectors but mostly fairytale Barbies and fairy Barbies are what there has been in the smaller and getting even smaller Barbie sections of Toysrus, Target and Walmart. I know they are trying to compete with Bratz,etc... but how about a choice? For the longest time when the larger heads came out I gave up on purchasing any new Barbies and was heartbroken(as I was when Barbie Bazaar stopped). Then I saw one that looked so beautiful, I broke down and had to buy her. I have been buying them ever since but am still wishing that they came with the old size heads. Anyone else feel likewise?
I am no stranger to Ebay or to the Barbie World. I have been collecting for about 5 years+++. I own over 5,0000 barbies, still in the box and all of the Fashion Avenue Fashions still in the original package and most of the fashions from yesteryears and some very old barbie dolls, including my very first barbie, I am now 52. Anybody want to chat about my favorite doll, come on!!!!!
Just curious if anyone does dioramas and if you have created any Christmas scenes? If you have, it would be interesting to hear what you have set Barbie up doing. My Barbies all get in a huge disagreement over who does what, the fight over the outfits, who decorates the tree, what there should be for snacks and drinks.....the list goes on. Last time I looked, the tree was on it's side and I saw a couple of empty beers. Does anyone else have these problems or do I just have an un-ruly bunch of barbies?
I have a dark yellow silk sheath pak dress that needs cleaning. I've seen these dresses that have been washed with soap and water. They shrink and look terrible. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to clean them while retaining the size and shape of the dress?
I have some really nice vintage barbies that today and today only I will sell for 30 % off the price listed. Also all of my jewelry is 50 % off with free shipping. I do not have a store so you either have to buy it now and I will refund the difference or make an offer. Just remember that while making an offer is nice someone else and buy it now and you lose out. I also work overnights and sleep during the day. Thank you Amy %
