I'm a previous hobby collector and have the first 3 years (89,90,91) of Upper Deck Factory sets, unopened, stored in temp/moisture controlled environment.
It would appear that the only set worth close to the purchase price 20 yrs ago is the initial year, and then only the Griffey card - #1.
The question: Do I break open the set to have the card graded, or sell i as a mystery?
I am moving in the next month and have decided to get rid of a huge collection in one lump purchase at a fraction of thier value. With 50's,60,s and every year in sucessive order of 69,70,71,72,73,74,75,76,77,78,79,80 in large loose boxes as well as complete sets in 81,82,83,84,85,86,87,88,89, how do I gauge what they are worth without spending a lot of time going through books? If anybody has an idea of how to sell them, please fell free to give me a call at 631-905-4169 Thanks, David
My son passed away and left a footlocker of his precious collection of sport's cards. I have kept them for a long time but think it is time to try to sell them on eBay. I have bought Beckett's books and have looked many up. Is it complicated to sell?
I use to be a big baseball collector, but I havnt traded or purchased any card in the last 10 years. Unfortunately, I just lost my Job after 12 years and we are on the verge of losing our home. Im sure you have herd this story before, so I will get to the point. I almost have the full 63 card set of the 1971 Topps SUPER Baseball Cards. I am missing #1 Reggie Smith, #31 Bert Campaneris, #37 Roberto Clemente, and #56 Willie Mays. The cards condition rate from Very Good To Near Mint. My question is; Is it best to Buy the cards I am missing and then sell as a full 63 card set or just sell what I have as 59 cards total or sell all cards individually? Any help would be greatly appreciated! The cars measure 3 1/8" x 5 1/4". I also have about 30 duplicates. Thanks again! Tony

False Shipping Costs Jan 29, 2010 8:49 AM Report Just wanted to get some insight and feedback on sellers who have a listed shipping cost and put their cards in a regular non-protected letter envelope and expect purchasers just to eat the difference without saying anything ? For instance...ebay seller(To be named later) listed a post that had a $5.95 shipping plus $1.00 for each additional card. When it arrived,it turned out to be in a regular envelope with .88 cents postage. IS THIS JUST NORMAL PRACTICE TO INFLAT THE TOTAL COSTS?....HOW ABOUT THE RESPONSE OF HANDLING............... THEN DON'T SELL THE CARDS IN THE FIRST PLACE!! I am curious to see what others think or even if they noticed this irresponsible practice. Just a thought as it feels being taken advantage of. List all those who malpractice.........
