I just recently bought an older boat. I've never owned one before and now I'm having problems. When I launch it as soon as I try to go forward the motor dies. It will fire right back up and going in reverse I have no problems at all. Its a 1983 70 hp evenrude outboard motor. any suggestions would be wonderful...thanks

Hello we have a small boat that we are planning on selling also a big motor that isn't being used...Now the question is should I list it here for sale or should we sell it personally?
Giving this a shot...anyone know of a boat that was used on Ossipee Lake in NH back in the early '70's...it was an outboard, about 16', had a 115/125hp Johnson on it, boat was a solid dark green color exterior and similar interior color, fiberglass lapstrake hull, often had buggy-style top on it, boat also had bowrail around the bow. I would love to know the maker of this boat...all I remember is that it was very fast(for the early '70's). Any help would be appreciated. I know it's a bizarre question and just want to know more about it. Thanks

I run our local fishinng club here in Michigan. I was looking at corporate donatitons but was not very lucky in doing so. I have a member of my club that has done an outstanding job within this club and his community protecting the environment within the area he lives and the areas that we fish. He is solely responsible for making sure that after we leave the site we fish that it is as we found it, I also make sure that all our member's pitch in are aware of their environment around them. One thing that he took upon himself is a neighborhood clean-up project, which was completed in about a year. He has been a member of this club for 5 years and has put so much into it, he has brought in members to make our club bigger and better and served as our treasurer for sometime now. I wanted to award this fine gentleman with a boat this past year but finding one that the club can afford is very hard any money that the club does receive is given back at the end of the tournament to the person with the most weight and then we award points. I do make up plaques for the person who has come in first and so on down the line. I need help this person deserves a better boat and I would love to hand him the keys to one this next season to show our appriciation for what he has accomplished here and abroad. His currant boat is falling apart and he doesn't have the money to afford upgrades the engine smokes I swear that the next rock he hits it will put a hole in it.
i have a 1984 3.8 omc roller cam motor in a little baja and was wanting to know if a 1987 5.7 omc would be a good replacement motor.i dont want to have to do a bunch of reworking or parts chasing to do this. its not that i want to go faster i just want a good reliable powerplant as it will do 52 on the water well it would before a bearing went out in bottom end.your input will help a great deal with outcome. thank you and have funn in the sun, doug
Have a great old engine. Sounds good. Does anyone know whether or not this should have a cooling stream from the rear shaft area or not?
I'm just trying to be sure the water pump works, don't want to burn it up. Have owned it since 1957 and haven't had it on the water in years, just run in a barrel. Thanks.
