hello, I am new here in the cats neighborhood but not to ebay. We have 6 cats -1 outside and 5 inside-Pheobe,Leo,Piper,Cole,Miley & Astrid. My daughters are fans of the show "Charmed" where they picked most of the names as you can see-lol! 3 of those kittys are newcomers from the stray who just recently set up her home outside while she was pregnant w/ our new guys. Now we need to get them all fixed (including mommy outside as she has already had some male visitors), my question is does anyone know a place that fixes strays and rescues cheaper in the New York City area cheap or is that not a good idea? I have heard some stories that the cheaper places are like factories w/ just one animal after another and then some people say there fine. I would love to hear from all the cat-owning friends in the neighborhood on this subject. Also what would be a good way to catch our Astrid in the back -she lets my husband pet her but will jump if he goes to try and pick her up.So in order to fix her she needs to be caught and we already tried the cage trap w/ food.Any suggestions on this matter too. Thanks so much, Daniela
I was just now watching the Martha Stewart show where a lady cat expert said that routine vaccinations for our adult cats are bad for their immune system..She said they should have the kitten vaccines but after that it only stresses they bodys....After my Lulu passed, I did some research on cancer in cats and did read that 1 in 4 cats will get cancer from vaccination they received as kittens....So what is one suppose to do?.....Has anyone else heard of this?

Those of you who follow my complaining about people spamming us here also know I do not mind posts to sell cat related products. My point is not to spam us with unrelated items and by people who pop in here ONLY to do that. I like to think of this neighborhood as a safe haven for cat lovers where we can chat about topics that will be of interest to most or all of us.
In the past I have posted a few messages for items I am selling. I have done it 2 times for feline medical/health related products and 2 times when I put up 100% charity auctions for cat related products. Between yesterday and today I listed 3 new 100% charity auctions, the winning bid going to 3 different animal charities. I believe they are Kitty Keepers in Montana, Save-A-Pet in Illinois and Alley Cat Allies based in Maryland but a national charity. These are all wonderful charities and being the items for auction are cat related and being sold for charity (yup, I will not get a penny of the money. The sales are through eBay giving works/Missionfish so they have the official banner from eBay as a legit 100% charity auction) I decided to let you know about them.
2 of the auctions are for a brand new Veterinary Ventures Big Dog pet fountain and one is for a Cat Dancer Mouse in the House programmable cat toy. The listings are 10 day listings (extra time in hopes of more bids). If you need a pet fountain or want a great toy for your cat, consider these auctions. Remember they are 100% charity and for a great cause!
Sincerely,
David

I lost my best friend of 17yrs yesterday. MzMouse was so special to me. She was in my arms when she passed. I told her she would see all her furry friends and she could run & chase all she wanted to. So if you all would be so kind as to look up & say a small prayer for her it would be appreciated. I didn't know that one person could cry this much. Thank You for any kind word you might have for her. I just know she can my heart breaking. I will say bye for now. Linda with out MzMouse
Hello to all My Cat Friends! Our shelter spreads the word each Halloween to bring your Black Cats indoors and don't let them out until next week! This sounds so cruel and really hard to believe, but apparently, gang members and troubled teenagers intentionally hurt black cats on Cabbage Night and Halloween. Tragic, but true. Keep your kitty safe!
Dear Sweet Friends, Thank you for all of the kind Prayers & words you have sent to MzMouse & my self. They all mean so much to me. It makes her passing a little easier. I know that most of you have lost a pet at one time or another and my heart goes out to all. Please go to www.cathouseonthekings.com you have to love this women. Love Too All, MzMousesMom, Linda
The average number of litters a fertile cat can produce in one year is 3. The average number of kittens in a feline litter is 4–6. In seven years, one female cat and her offspring can theoretically produce 420,000 cats. Only 1 in 12 of those 420,000 cats born finds a home. :o(

If you bought something on eBay and a couple days after the seller shipped it he contacted you to tell you he shipped the incorrect item and would you please ship it right back. Once received he would refund you the postage cost plus 10%, ship you the correct order and even include several free items in the box to help make up for the error. Would you have a problem with that, beyond the annoyance of the sellers stupid error?
The buyer in this case held on to the wrong item and asked me to ship the corrected order (and an extra one to make up for the error, it was a $4 item) and AFTER they get the proper order they would return the other.
I believe that to be extortion, pure ans simple. They got pissed when I ask them: "If you went to the local Macy's and bought a shirt, then got home to find they packed a pair of socks in the bag in error, would you go back WITHOUT the socks and demand they give you 2 shirts and then you would bring them the socks?" That question just pissed them off more and an email fight started. Thankfully the moron had left me feedback in error they day he paid, so it was too late to put a neg on me. Of course the issue went to PayPal where they were told to return the wrong item to get the right one, or pay for it and then I had to ship the right one. Of course they opted to return it and called me all kinds of colorful names.
Someone buys some items this weekend from me. When I process postage they get an email giving them she shipping info. My email also says "The CoolCyberCats donates monthly to several animal charities. Your package likely includes a brochure from one of these charities. They often contain good & important information and we hope that you read it." the email also then gives important health info on cats and such. Okay, so less than 20 minutes after one of these emails goes out, I get this reply:
start.... Don't preach, don't broadcast your personal charitable convictions, they are of no interest to me, and I should be able to buy a product without having to wade through irrelevant information.
If it helps: both Federal Regulations on interstate commerce, as well as Postal Regulations, which giovern all mail order transactions, specifically prtohibit that you use a product the customer is paying for to further your personal agendas. From the Law's perspective, you are using my money to broadcast information that has no bearing on your product, and you are using my money to send your brochures in packages of product.
So please refrain from these activities - you are supposed to know the regulations for interstate commerce and interstate shipping. Apart from the restrictions on what you can use my money for (you are at liberty to set up a charitable organization, which you fund out of profits, if you want) you are being disrespectful, in thinking you can determine what should be important to me. So please abide by the rules that we all have to take into consideration when conducting our business, and, very importantly, don't think that because you feel you "do good" you can disrespect your customers.
...end
Wow. I really had to refrain myself from replying and canceling his order as well, figuring if he does not do business with me he won't be so hurt about my helping animal charities.
Since he is not off eBay I have no way to block him, but I put his name and address on a note on the desk here. If it comes up again on any other order ever, I will simply cancel the order and start I did not want to "disrespect" him by allowing the sale to process.
This month has just been chalk full of jerks with my sales venues. I have no idea why they seem to come in groups then nothing. I only hope my October wave of annoying buyers will subside soon.
Last month my 4 yr old cat, who has been in perfect health, stopped eating and drinking for 4 days, he did not play, just sat underneath the bed with his eyes looking glazed. I called a few places, but no one would offer any suggestions other than to bring him in and pay lots of money. My older daughter had just started college and with the state budget not approved, I had to give my entire savings to her for books and supplies so I was broke. I knew my cat would die if I didn't do something, I did some research on the internet and found that cats are prone to gum and dental infections and he did have a bad smell to his breath, After a day forcing pedialyte in his mouth with a syringe, I read that the common antibiotic to give cats was clindamyacin which I had from a previous trip to the dentist. I figured out the dosage based on the weight of my cat and divided the 150mg capsules by pouring them out dividing them into 2 doses at 75mg each for my 15lb cat. I mixed the 75mg powder with the pedialyte and gave it to him over 5 days. After the 2nd dose, he began eating again and after a week, he was back to his playful and active self. I was so happy that I did what I did or he wouldn't be around today. I don't recommend giving just any antibiotics to cats, but if you are ever faced with a situation like I was in and cannot pay for a vet, do some research, ask questions on blog sites-it just might save your beloved cat.
