Just enjoyed this movie again last night. There is a Quote from Frank Cross (Bill Murray) at the end of the movie that I have always remembered. "It's Christmas Eve... It's the one night of the year when we all act a little nicer, We smile a little easier, We cheer a little more. For a few hours out of the whole year, we are the people that we always hoped we would be".
2 sliced oranges, 2 sliced apples, 2 to 3 whole cloves, few cinnamon sticks or add grinded cinnamon,1 sliced lemon or lemon juice, add water , cook on high for about 3 min. then drop back to low, makes your house smell sooooo good, better than Yankee Candles ~ fridge then use again next day
Hershey Kisses Cookies ~ 1 cup margarine ~ 1/2 cup powered sugar ~ 1 tsp vanilla ~ 2 cups flour ~ 1 cup fine chopped walunts ~ 1 bak of Hershey Kisses ~ soft margarine, beat at medium speed, Add powered sugar and vanilla, beat well ~ fold in nuts and flour ~ beat until well mix, then I take it and hand mix until it forms a dough, I like small cookies better than the large~I cut hershey into half, take the half hershey kiss and just enough dough to cover the kiss is in the middle , form a ball ~ Bake 12 minutes at 375 ~ roll warm cookies in powered sugar
There is one Christmas Carol that has always baffled me. What in the world do leaping lords, french hens, swimming swans and especially the partridge who won't come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas?
From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each element in the carol has a code word for the religious reality, which the children could remember.
1. The partridge in the pear tree was Jesus Christ. 2. Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments. 3. Three french hens stood for Faith, Hope and Love. 4. The four calling birds were the four gospels of Mathew, Mark, Luke and John. 5. The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament. 6. The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation. 7. Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit-Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership and Mercy. 8. The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes. 9. Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit-Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self Control. 10. The ten lords a-leaping were the Ten Commandments. 11. The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples. 12. The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.
Something to think about next time you sing or hear this Christmas carol.
here is the code below for a fiber optic rotating Christmas tree this is really beautiful as it goes around and around will make your Christmas extra special
I wrote a book for my kids once and every year I read it to them on Christmas Eve. I won't be there this year. :(
But at least they know, and ya know my kids don't expect anything, they know they get what they get and will enjoy it (or at least play with the box it came in.)
They also like to donate toys to needy kids, because we've been there and know how it is.
The reason for Christmas is Jesus! Not presents or whiny brats begging and crying for stuff noone can really afford and no kid really needs!
Buy them a bible or maybe get em this cross, maybe next year they will be more appreciative of what they MIGHT get!
