I have a Rush- 4 album collection up for auction. One of the albums is a 2 LP Live Set. All albums are in good condition and play well. The auction is at $4.95 w/ $4 shipping and less than 24 hours left. Great opportunity to grab this set with a low bid. Super Fast Shipping! I am trying to list some of my classic rock albums. Trying to auction LP's is new to me so any tips would be very helpful and appreciated.
I do realize this may be a female hormone related question, but anyone may answer.... many of us turned toward guys in bands who had cool hair, and were primarily guitar players. They might be the Beatles with mop-top hair, or 80's heavy metal guys, or glam rockers, ANYONE!!!! Let's have it... who's got the hair/got the guitar????
ONE OF THE MOST UNDERATED BAND THAT WAS FROM THE SAN FRANCISCO,HAIGHT/ASHBURY TIME WAS QUICKSILVER MESSENGER SEVICE.THOUGHT THEY WERE BETTER THAN GREATFUL DEAD OR BIG BROTHER AT LEAST AT THAT TIME.ZOMBIES HIGHLY UNDERATED.BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD HIGHLY UNDERATED MOST PEOPLE ONLY KNOW "FOR WHAT ITS WORTH" IF YOU AIN'T HEARD ANY THING ELSE BY THEM GET "RETROSPECTIVE " AND GET A GREAT TREAT!
OK,GONNA CATCH A LOT OF FLACK FOR THIS ,BUT IF IT STARTS A DISCUSSION THEN GOOD! I THINK EDDIE VAN HALEN IS THE MOST OVER RATED GUITAR PLAYER CAUSE: JUST CAUSE HE PLAYS REAL FAST DON'T MAKE HIM REAL GOOD! ANYBODY THAT PLAYS A HIGHLY AMPLIFIED GUITAR CAN TELL YOU THAT YOU DON'T EVEN NEED A PICK! SO HE MOVES HIS FINGERS UP AND DOWN THE FRETS REAL FAST DON'T MAKE HIM GREAT! ALSO HE PLAYS THE SAME OLE LICKS OVER AND OVER PRETTY MUCH! HENDRIX COULD PLAY AN ACOUSTIC GUITAR AS BOUT AS GOOD AS AN ELECTRIC! EVER HEARD EDDIE PLAY ONE? CLAPTON,HENDRIX,ETC. COULD PLAY SLOW SOULFUL BLUES AS WELL AS FAST LOUD MUSIC! EVER HEARD EDDIE PLAY SLOW? SOULFUL? BLUES? THESE [HENDRIX,CLAPTON,BECK ETC] ARE HIS INFLUENCES,WHY DON'T HE GET THE HINT? COMMENTS?
Ok, we've had best vocals, best guitarist, now how about best rock drummer???? I know someone's going to say Moon and Bonham, and I don't blame you. They obviously came to my mind, too. I get exhausted just listening to Bev Bevan drumming out "Fire on High". I see why "Face the Music" is one of his favorite albums. So, you also have a favorite drummer, and an album to prove it, you know, where that drummer really reached and showed themself off...let's read about it...
I've just joined this neighborhood because I love all types of contemporary music and there's a reasonable amount of answers to questions posted. I think the BIG question is when does a rock record become a 'Classic Rock Record'? - also some of my classic records probably wouldn't register on the average Joe's radar - so let's hear some creative ideas for CLASSIC ROCK and not just bands and titles - TELL ME AND THE REST OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD WHY YOU THINK ITS A CLASSIC - here's some of my thoughts -
GONG - RADIO GNOME TRILOGY - here's a set of three tremendous albums - FLYING TEAPOT - ANGEL'S EGG - YOU recorded by the ultimate group of spaced out musos. What makes this great music? - You'll have to check it out - but be prepared to be astounded by superb drumming, great guitar (courtesy of STEVE HILLAGE) and incredible sounds from the incomparable DIDIER MALHERBE. I first heard this band on JOHN PEEL'S evening show on UK BBC RADIO ONE back in 1973 when I was still at school and thus began a life long obsession with this band - and what a band they are. Check them out on WIKIPEDIA then invest in some CD's or if you're like me buy some old vinyl. Here's a tip - there's alot of synth parts on these records so if you're buying vinyl make sure its as near mint as possible or any surface noise will drive you mad.
Another classic that isn't quite so obscure must be HOT RATS by FRANK ZAPPA arguably one of his best albums - I was first introduced to this album when I was about 13 it was different to most stuff I'd heard - longer tracks - virtually no vocals and certainly not a record that was comparable to what I was listening to at the time - why did I like it so much? I don't honestly know it was just amazing and still is - yes I still play it regularly and I still collect Zappa records - he is/was the man - so many different styles but always played to the max - do yourself a favour and grab a copy of HOTRATS - open your eyes to the work of a true master.
Sorry this has turned into a marathon but I just have to spread the word - your comments and recommendations will be welcome.
