WONDER WOMAN... I most remember the escapism i felt during episodes of the Wonder Woman tv series. When Lynda Carter spun around and transformed into Wonder Woman, it gave me hope during all the bad times that I went through as a little kid. Growing up had some low points, and I can't count the times I went in my room and just spun around until I got dizzy. It took my mind off everything, and cartoons gave me an entire "secret world" of happiness that has continued on into adulthood. Plus, I felt like a real bad a&# when I walked onto the school bus with that metal Wonder Woman lunchbox. Why? It made me know that girls could be tough, too, (and it made a good weapon against little boys that teased the redhaired girl). lol...
Last year, I shipped 3 pounds of comics to Europe using the slow route (sea) for about $15. This year, I was interested in doing this monthly, but now it appears that the service has jumped up to cost twice as much - about $30 to ship.
This means that instead of shipping costing the buyer about half as much as the comics, the shipping would cost the same as the comics. I'm wondering if there is any way to ship them more cheaply? I'm afraid that folks won't buy the comics for $1 each if they also have to pay $1 each for shipping.
I would be interested in ideas for decreasing the shipping cost. Thanks!
Thought the topic of this blog post I just posted would be of interest to those in the 'comic book neighborhood'.
We just received another e-mail today asking if we knew the value of an underground comic book and if we stock any in our stores.
So we referred them to our archived eBay Blog Post, which has since become distorted in viewing due to the eBay blog format change. So here is the previous blog post, updated, in an easier-to-read form.
We sell what we know best, and Underground comic books were around when Michael first started collecting comics. However they were not allowed in Michael's house when he was a kid in the 1960's, and the genre actually never interested him, although he did run across them in high school. Thus we don't stock this genre of comic books.
However, for those of you that have interest in the genre, the first new Underground and Adult comix price guide in a quarter-century has recently been published. Veteran Underground creator, publisher and retailer Dan Fogel provides a realistic and very informative guide to prices and how to determine printings. Comprising over 1800 titles and 5000 individual issues.
Fogel's Guide also boasts comprehensive insider articles and information unavailable anywhere else. As a bonus to UG fans, Larry (Dr. Atomic) Todd's infamous comix classic "Vampironica" is reprinted for the first time, alongside a new story "The Hard Hand", by Fogel and Carnal Comics artist Randy Vogel. Fogel's Underground Comix Price Guide is a 224-page trade paperback, with a black and white interior and 8 pages of color.
We do not sell this book... only blog posting this for interested parties.... so check out eBay for copies!!
Scenario: I have an $8 comic to list and sell, and it will be $2 actual shipping for the comic.
1) Why does it seem that if I list it for the $8 with $2 s/h, no one will buy it. 2) But if I list it for $2 with $8 s/h, it will sell everytime. However, winner will contact to ask for "cheaper shipping".
The psychology of marketing is very amusing. What do you think?
I have 1000's of comics.I am listing them on ebay every week but it would be nice to know what people will want to buy.Mine range from the very early 70's to about 1991.What DC comics are popular?
