Hi there, I have been on and off of eBay for a little bit trying to find my 'nitch', and well I have had success!!!! My wife and I have been raising cichlids for a while now but just recently started to breed, and have found that we really enjoy it. Currently we have around 400 gallons of tank space and about 20 species of fish (mainly cichlids), but are only breeding 6 different cichlids species. This keeps me quite busy, but I enjoy every minute of it. So I just thought I would introduce myself and see if there are any other cichlid lovers around eBay, as I rather enjoy buying, selling, and trading fish and supplies, and just hope that I'm not the only one.
hello ebayers frontosas are really great for your freshwater tank they re beautiful fish they requier a little more attention but its worth it and the males grow a big bump on there head to show of ro the females ! they are african ciclids and you must check them out ! if you don't know what they are i put a picture up on the member board and you can see what they look like
Hi, I am new here. I am looking forward to reading your posts as I love fish and I have had at least one tank for the past 40 years. I did not know this site existed.
I live on Long Island and I'm trying to purchase a small healthy bubble eye (sometimes refered to as bubble cheek) gold fish. Why are they so darn hard to find?? Any ideas? Places wear I could find one? I don't want to mail orer just one fish, and I'd like to be able to pick and choose my fish. Can anyone out there help?
Hello! I'm Ricky, and I'm a fish-a-holic. It's true, I've been this way for a while now. I currently have a 210 gallon Saltwater tank up with 55 gal sump. I also have a 40gal predator saltwater and a 20 gal freshwater right now. Would love to see your alls tanks and hope to post a pic of mine up soon!
We acquired a large Red Devil fish, that we fundly call Diablo. He lives up to his name. He was up for adoption. We saw him huddled in a corner of a tank at the pet store. He seemed so lonely and docile. Boy..little did we know, haha.
Now we sorta know why he was there, lol. We would not trade him for the world though. Fallen in love with him. Quite a fish-son-ality..haha.
Unfortunately, before putting a divider in -- he ate two blue dolphins and a baby fantosa & electric yellow..that we know of..
We are hoping to get a larger tank for him pretty soon. We love our african cichlids and the tank divider is working out well for now. We have a gorgoues Jack Dempsey, large fantosa, electric yellow, and a couple more beauties..not sure the names.
Diablo is quite a character though. He loves performing somersaults when he see an audience. His crown is very pronounced, his green marbelized eyes & coloring are beautiful, and he is very smart and attentive. From time to time, he opens the lid on the tank and squirts water out. He is just a big floating baby.
My son learned the hard way, to have rubber gloves on when cleaning the tank, however. Ouch! His fins are very sharp.
We love watching him rearrange the tank also. One day there will be two big mountains of rocks, the next day, small curvy hills. All the plants get placed where he wants them too.
He is about 8 years old.
Well, -- any good deals on a larger tank out there? lol. Diablo needs a bigger home. Just a matter of time, I think he will figure out how to take the divider down. He also loves to take the filteration tube down from time to time too - and we've lost a cichlid or two that way. We do have that side of the tank reserved for him now, and the others are on the safer side.
Know it sounds like I'm saying don't get a red devil, but -- nope. They are amazing fish..lol... but for the love of the African Cicchilds..lol, do keep Diablos seperated if you decide to have one.
I was wondering how many members in this discussion group own parrot fish? After reading numerous articles on the internet I found out that most people hate these hybrid fish. I guess I must be a part of the minority for I really enjoy this breed of fish. What are your comments either for or against?
Hello All- I'm wondering if anyone out there can give me some tips on how to get the algae out of my small fish pond & keep it out, It looks horrible the water is totally green i can't see the fish at all, I do have a couple of the algae fish. Another thing i wanted to ask is how do you care for the fish in the winter ? I have heard people say that you don't have to do anything the fish go to the bottom and stay all winter long you don't feed them or anything. Is that true ? I have only had this pond for a couple of months and don't know alot about it but would appreciate any information any of you could give me.
I used to be really into mollies & guppies, but have now moved onto koi & pond fish. I have a hardback book about livebearers (mollies, guppies, swordtails, platies). I plan on posting an auction for it, so if you might be interested keep an eye out!
