What Books/Cookbooks Would you Recommend which Reflect an Appreciation of Great Tasting, Healthy Food??
Here are my current Favorites:
Food to Live By, by Myra Goodman. 2006. Thick paperback with lots of shiny photos of Beautiful, Delicious looking Organic Food.
Gourmet Every Day, by Catherine Bergen. 2006. Hardback, also with lots of shiny photos! Tips for becoming an Everyday Gourmet. Focuses on food found in Napa Valley, so uses lots of Balsamic Vinaigrettes.
Gluten-free Girl. By Shauna James Ahern. 2007. More of a book about a lifestyle of eating and cooking Goumet Food which for her (and for me!) has to be Gluten-Free. Some recipes are included but the book is more of an overall philosophy of living and dining with zest, always choosing fresh over processed. Lots of flours as alternatives to wheat flour are discussed.
Would love to hear about similar books if you've read them, or if you offer them for sale.
I loved the old Chef Boyardee pizza kits from a few decades back, but the current Chef Boyardee pizzas don't taste the same at all. I understand that the Chef Boyardee company was purchased by another company, & the recipe changed at that time. The new sauce included in the pizza kit box is not the same at all now. Does anyone have a copycat recipe or any suggestions for replicating that old Chef Boyardee pizza sauce? I'm interested specifically in the Chef Boyardee pizza sauce from years ago, not the sauce that currently comes with the kits now. Any recipes or ideas?
Mix together dry ingred: Betty Crocker's 17oz pkg of peanut butter cookie mix only, Marie Callendar's cornbread 1 cup of pkg mix only, 2 cups old fashioned oatmeal, 1/2 cup wheat germ, 1/2 cup flax seed, 1/3 cup powdered protein whey, 1/2 teasp baking powder, 1 teasp cinnamon, 1 cup mixed reeces pieces & choc chips (optional).
Mix together wet ingred: 2 eggs + 2 egg whites, 1 cup applesauce, 6oz lite yogurt vanilla flavor, 1/2 cup orange juice.
Mix wet & dry together. Then add 2/3 cup HOT water & mix thoroughly & let mixture sit for a five minutes for oats to absorb water. Spray cupcake liners and fill 2/3 full, bake 350F, cupcakes for 20-25 minutes. Makes 3 dozen. Refrigerate or freeze. Warm 10 seconds in microwave.
I have a great recepie for tomato sauce and want to start selling it by the jar on e-bay. Does anyone know if you can sell food and what the rules are. Does not seem to be a big item on e-bay.
Hi everybody, we always brine and marinate our turkey but I was wondering if anyone has ever brined an already cured ham? I know ya can do it. I just don't know if it'd be worth it or what ta use. Thanks
Hi, new here. I have a question and was wondering if anyone out there had any ideas. My husband recently deployed to Afghanistan and he would like some of his favorite comfort foods sent to him from time to time. I was wondering if there was a way to preserve some of these foods without using the heavy glass canning jars. (the main thing he's wanting is homemade chili) Is it possible to preserve chili in vacuum sealed bags and mial it to him without it spoiling? We can't ship with dry ice and it takes roughly one to two weeks for the mail to get there. I can use the jars, but I would prefer not to (be worried they would break in shipping, and could send more if I didn't have to use glass jars) Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
