my kids are little yet but i have one starting preschool and i have been concedering home school for a while but i dont know if i can do it! i am sending him to public school this year. i wanna let him go long enough to get a foundation started because i dont know where to begin. i just dont know what grade i should pull him out of public school.
I am a stay at home mom of 6 and homescooler. My oldest son is not doing well with his curric. I use abeka, I am considering sending him to public school next year. He is adhd and spends most of our days starting trouble and keeping my attention on him and away from his brothers/sisters. I am very frustrated and the hubby is no help, to ask him only starts a fight that ends with us not speaking to each other which is where we are.
New to ebay and obviously this "neighborhood". Just wondering how many of you find encouragement and support from local homeschool groups. If you're a member of one, what kind of opportunities does your group have in regards to co-ops, family fellowships, community involvement, "teachers/moms night out", etc.? I'm a member of a great group here in western NC, but we're looking to expand our horizons, so to speak, in order to better meet the needs of local homeschoolers (especially newbies). Any suggestions?
I need some guidance. I have two brothers, one is ten and the other eight. The ten-year old is having trouble in public school, getting bad grades, not turning in his homework, etc. BUT, he does soooo well with me at home, with reading, writing, comprehension, finishes all his homework and is just really bright. I learned that his class is filled with over thirty students, with one teacher, and he gets little attention at school. He needs attention though, that is how he focuses.
So, my question is, where do I go to find info on homeschooling him, how much time is it going to take each day, what do I have to do, and basically, how do I start.
I really think he will benefit from homeschooling. Moreover, I am planning on having children soon, whom I wish to homeschool.
How many of you have actually started a real business on Ebay and found it profitable? Is this something you do full-time, part-time, or whenever you find the time? Are your children involved with you, or is this something yo do alone? Is it a family endeavor? Do you use the extra money to contribute to the house, or just towards the homeschooling? Just curious as to the different ways homeschool families utilize Ebay.
I have three children ages 5,7,and 9. My husband is a travel nurse. He went on one assignment without us and promised he would never do it again. We sold our house 5 days later! Bought a big fifth wheel. That was two years ago now. Wow, how time flies when you are having fun. I have been homeschooling for 5 years now. I was just wondering if there were any other families out there like us??? We have been all over and plan to go many more. Although we just bought a ranch out in Texas hill country area - I can visualize a new house out there - easily. Living in a RV can be tough - but so rewarding.
I have listed and will be listing next week readers which are brand new from scholastic, usborne, etc and I will be posting them in lots. We are cleaning out our homeschooling inventory and hope that you will stop by. It's been an interesting and busy year homeschooling and ebaying, my boys are ready for the summer and we are almost done. Hope you all have a great day.
I'm new to the neighborhood and looking forward to participating. I wanted to let everyone know that every Thursday is $1 day on my school site; the dollar days run from Thursday to Thursday. Have a super night! Terresa
I AM LOOKING FOR A GOOD LATIN HOMESCHOOL PROGRAM FOR MY THREE OLDER CHILDREN , AGES 10,9 AND 8. IT NEEDS TO BE FOR BEGINNERS AND MOSTLY STUDENT DIRECTED.I DONT KNOW ANY LATIN BUT AM EXCITED TO LEARN ALONG WITH THEM! DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS?
I have a great art education program listed for homeschool parents. I wrote the program a few years ago and used in in my own school. The program is project oriented. Doing one project per week, the program will run throughout the school year.

We are working to support a new web site www.HomeSchoolersUnderground.com
and we are working to support a pro home school candidate for Tennessee's state senate.
Until this year, Tennessee was considered "Home School Friendly" and then the state level elected officials decided to get aggresive.
If it can happen in Tennessee, it can happen anywhere. We hope to show our elected officials that when they interfere with our freedoms, we will interfere with their political careers.

I have a 3.5 yr-old who only recently began being positive about eating. I wanted to share with you all our experience and hear about any comments or ideas you have. Little Lucas is a little boy who ABSOLUTELY needs to have independent choice. It's one of the reasons I'm a stay-at-home mom and he's a homeschooling preschooler. BUT, he just wouldn't eat! Every time he started liking I food, it seemed I would spoil it by putting it in front of him or, god forbid, talking about it. I realized the choice itself would help him feel empowered. Like most children, he is also engaged by anything new and challenging. He had just learned the alphabet names and was in the middle of learing letter sounds. I took one sheet of paper and wrote down a few names of food and handed it to him. Together we sounded out the letters/words, and I asked him what he would like to eat. I couldn't believe it. It worked!!! So now, about a year later, I've designed a durable version of that first scrap of paper. He uses it regularly, and gets VERY excited when we're at a restaurant and he sees other people using menus. It's worked so amazingly for us, that I want to share it with others. From what I can tell in OUR house and from what I've heard from other Mommies who have been using this, the menu can be used very effectively with toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children. I"m seeing three distinct benefits: empowering/emotional development, motivating picky eaters, and engaging early readers (from phonemic awareness to fluency). Please let me know what you think. Mention this forum and let's take %20 off the price of a menu. I'd LOVE your feedback.
