I've opened up a shop here on eBay featuring authentic Japanese arts and crafts, as well as modern goods. Please check it out! Will be adding new stuff on a weekly basis. These come direct from Japan, so you can enjoy the fine quality of Japanese goods without having to come directly here!
How can I tell if my tablecloths are silk? They are from Japan from 1980-1990 and have only Japanese characters written. No English. In original package.
I LOVE geta. I recently acquired a (relatively cheap) pair, and I absolutely adore them. I've spent a lot of time looking around online, and though I've found it really difficult to find them for sale, I've accumulated a nice little collection of links to waste some paychecks on. What I can't find, however... is anything on the proper way to walk in them. Do you roll your foot from back to front as you walk? Do you keep your feet level so that the teeth touch the ground at the same time? I have no idea, and apparently neither does Google.
Does anyone have any information for me? I'd really hate to look like a moron when I wear these out in public. And also!: A link share sounds good to me. Have you found a page with good information, pictures, or geta/geta related products for sale? Please, list your links and information here!
Here are the ones I've found: http://www.karankoron.com/online_shop_geta.html http://stores.ebay.com/Nagomi-Inc http://www.zipangu-treasures.com/servlet/the-Japanese-Sandals/Categories
Note: I do not (yet) speak Japanese, so English sites are preferred, please.
I am trying to find out more about a painting that belonged to my mother. Back has a label stating "made and painted in Kyoto Japan. I would to find out the era and painter if possible. From what I have learned, I believe it is a framed scroll and is signed. I have pictures. Any info would be helpful. =)
Does anyone know approx date of red mark of rising sun over a stream and Made in Japan? I can find lots of rising sun marks but none including the stream. I think this is a Nippon Mark but can't find it anywhere.
