I have to buy one jazz guitar for a high school band that multiple kids will play, I've got a budget of about $2,000. I was told to see if I could pickup a Gibson es175 with the school discount I may be able to pull this off, what you think? It would have to be new, sorry Ebayers, and have to take a school purchase order. Give me a few suggustions, I know this quality a instrument sounds like overkill, but this is a national award winning Jazz band and also a one shot deal with the $$$$'s. So I want to give the kids the best I can before I go. Thanks in advance for the info. Only listeners, no players? Come on I need a little help.
Hi all - I cross-posted this to the Audiophile neighborhood, so it may seem familiar to you already. Here we go again: long story, but hang in. We live in Spokane Washington. There was a gentleman here - my surrogate dad - who was a long time radio man: voice of the local public TV station, had his own jazz programs, etc. etc. He has an INCREDIBLE collection of vinyl records - we are talking 33's, 78's, even 45's from way back when he was in HS in the 30's. Frank died a few years back, and now we have this enormous collection of at least 2000 disks of mainly jazz and classical records to deal with. There is also a significant group of voice disks, like Edward R. Murrow and the Orson Welles War of the Worlds broadcast, plus some 50's-oriented disks like Henry Mancini. Like I say, he was collecting since the 30's and I KNOW there are probably some very, very valuable records in there. In most cases, the covers are perfect and the disks in very good condition - Frank didn't fool around with junk. There's also a sound system for playing these things, which I don't know if you can find anymore. Question: where do I start to unload this collection? It weighs a ton and I don't want to ship it. Nor do I want to spend my time learning about the artists and the disks to squeeze every nickel out of them. What should I do? Where do we start? Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks!
Hey everybody, what's your favorite Jazz record? That's a pretty tough one to narrow down. Perhaps a top 5 or top 10 list is more in order. Cheers, deepgrooveguru.
I have some older albums I'm selling, I have a copy of "Jackie Wilson at the Copa" recorded live and while technically not Jazz, I thought some of you might be interested! Thanks for taking a look, this is in really good shape and still wrapped in original plastic.

Drawing from a timeless collection of standard favorites from the Cole Porter, Burt Bacharach / Hal David, and Irving Berlin songbooks, master vocalist TIM BALLARD takes the vocal jazz fan on an unforgettable journey through 12 timeless, beautiful, and lush orchestrations on his album, "EASY DOES IT", produced and arranged by the incomparable Dave Zoller.
The twelve tracks explore the richness of the jazz idiom, including classic big band arrangements, as well as modern, smoother, and soulful hues, and all expertly showcase excellent solo work from noted North Texas musicians Randy Wensel (piano and trombone), Dave Zoller (piano), Pete Brewer (tenor sax), and Rod Booth (trumpet and fluegelhorn).
Recorded first on CD with premier digital technology in 1991 at Dallas' Big Time Audio Studios, Tim Ballard's "EASY DOES IT" is now being re-released at superior-quality mp3 encoding for the digital download generation. Slated for May 1, 2008 Internet release, the album will be available to worldwide jazz lovers on the most major mp3 sites, but is available on CD right here on EBAY! You may listen free to all of the tracks at http://timballard.fuzz.com.

At this time I'm listening to Sonny Sharrock, Material, Ginger Baker, James Blood Ulmer, but I have stuff from Canonball Adderley to Joe Zawinal. My favorite is Miles.
I am listening to less Jazz these days because I think Jazz is not as vital and challenging as it once was and I also have other music listening interests.
Happy New Year Everyone. I'm new to eBay and this was the first neighborhood I moved into. I'm looking forward to talking to some other Jazz- ophiles and maybe learning alittle too. It's some rainy, stormy weather around here the last week or so and I've been listening to Miles Davis, 'Sketches Of Spain'. A rainy day & 'Sketches' just seems to go together for me. Then I usually get around to some Ray Charles & Betty Carter. The holiday rush is over, the weather is winter & we can all exhale now. What are you listening to? And why? I'd love to know. And I hope to get a chance to know some of you here.
