I think this must be heaven!! I can sit in my house and browse through thousands of yarn auctions! The best part is I won 2 auctions already and I feel like I have just snorted some really good wool dust!!! Okay, I never used drugs but I imagine this is what it feels like when you get high! I can't wait to start putting up some of my baby sets for sale. I have some vintage knitting books from a late aunt and the old stuff is beautiful. This new adventure is just what I needed to help me fight this nasty thyroid cancer that decided to invade my life. Knitting is a great escape and it takes my mind off of my troubles. Hoping to make some new friends.
I have tried, I loose stitches, I loose count, I loose my patience. I like circular needles. I taught myself to knit, I was told I hold my yarn backwards, but I'm consistent. What is the easiest way to learn, I don't have anyone I can go to for mentering. I have knitted a blanket, it took several years, but I finished it. I would like to start knitting for my grandsons, what is a good project to begin with? Thanks, Carol
I'm sure you sympathize *LOL* In addition to knitting clothes for myself, I turned my hobby into a part-time business selling doll clothes and bear clothes. It's a labor of love, but it is burying me under yarn balls and skeins - trying to keep colors on hand that I use a lot, and the leftovers when I've purchased yarn for a customer, and never needed it again...
There are days I want to put the whole lot on on eBay *LOL* Don't you find you guys get buried with leftover yarn too? What do you do with yours??
I've knitted some blankets and now want to try and knit some clothing but the only patterns I have been able to find are hideous and outdated. I know that there is cute stuff out there to knit but I just can't find them. Also some of the patterns call for super expensive yarn. I would like to be able to subsitute it for affordable yarn. Thanks for any responses!
In the early 70's I made an afghan for my mom. It was a sampler type done in stripes, each stripe having a different design, it had a solid border. Would anybody happen to have the pattern around? I have my mom's afghan, but just do not have the skill to figure out each stitch. Thank you for all your help. roseoncliff
Well, I broke the #1 Rule of Knitting: Always buy enough yarn to finish your project! I started a baby blanket in Jo-Ann Sensations Rainbow Classic Yarn (the brushed yarn, not the Boucle). The blanket is all white and when I purchased my yarn there was plenty left at my local Jo-Ann super store. Well, don't you know when I went back a week later to get more there was no white left. In fact, they had even removed the sign for the white on the shelf. I knew that could only mean trouble for me. A kind saleslady worked diligently, calling all the stores in my area to see if they had any white left. She found one store 30 miles away that said they had 27 skeins and one store 60 miles away that said they had 1 skein. We put a 24 hr hold at both stores. I immediately rushed to the first store hoping to find my 3 skeins being held at the front desk. When I arrived I found 3 skeins of white boucle yarn (not the brushed that we asked for). A wasted trip, waisted gas and a huge disappointment but I still had another store to go to. It was the smallest Jo-Ann store I've ever been in but indeed they did have my 1 skein of white brushed yarn on hold. I figure that 1 more skein may do it but if I can find 2 or 3 more, I'll surely take them. Lesson learned: ALWAYS get all the yarn you'll need on your first trip! Btw, all the stores had removed the sign for the white yarn on their shelves. A visit to joann.com revealed the same ..it's not there. All that's left is 3 colors. I'm not having much luck getting to the bottom of the situation but it seems that they are discontinuing at least the white and probably all of the bushed yarn. If anyone has the inside scoop on Jo-Ann Sensations Rainbow Classic Brushed Yarn (White), I'd be most appreciative in knowing what the future of this yarn is. Even more so, if anyone has any of the white and is willing to sell it to me, please contact me! The blanket I'm making is a gift for a baby that is due to arrive in September.

I just discovered this neighborhood and glad to find it. I have recently moved and miss my old knitting group. I don't sell many crafting items, but I am always looking for a great deal on yarn or needles. I am a certified knitting instructor, so beginners, please feel free to ask questions and I'll help you as much as I can.
