I have an authentic Japanese made Katana that I have reason to believe is at least 150 years old. It was damaged in a flood and has reduced resale value because of that.
The resale value aside, I am very interested in knowing who made it, and when. There are 5 (Hiragana ?) characters stamped (carved?) into the tang, very clearly the maker's and polisher's marks.
Does anyone know where I could send the photo of these characters, to have them interpreted as to maker and date?

Has anyone ever seen a bowie knife with a flower erched on the tang also fancy etched blade and tooled leather sheath with silver findings about 14 inches overall
Mark is a tang stamp. Appears to be that of a "kneeling bowman". The knife itself is a full tang, spear point, fighter with a sharpened swage. It is carbon steel with what appears to be a steel elongated/pointed oval guard, wood scales with three peened steel pins. The knife is well made; however, a bit crude in its overall finish. The fit of all the components is well done and tight. I've searched Goins' Encyclopedia page by page and found no reference to the tang stamp. Any ideas will be appreciated.
I've been trying to find a new Frost Cutlery Steel Warrior Wrangler Stockman Knife for around 2 years. The particular one I need is item # SW-112DS. It is deer stag and I've ordered it from 3 different companies which always say it is on backorder and they really don't have it in stock.Frost Cutlery don't have it either and couldn't help me. Does anyone have one for sale or know where I could get one? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
