Recently i have faced with the problem on Ebay: i have put the Omega watch, received as a gift from my previous place of work, and later on it was found as replica watch. This made me to start the project on creation the resource on the net, with help of users from all watch-related forums and professional watchmakers globally, give the answers on the doubts of watch-buy planners and identify the discrepancies between replicas and originals.
Currently the resource is under construction, but i hope that in the nearest future we will launch this project. I rely on the help of users from EBay Community. As an example, i have seen the fake U.Nardin watches here.
There are plans to invite the professionals from watch making companies to answer the users questions. The negotiations are on going. so keep checking the site.

The watch (referenced below) is claimed to be an original with all original parts (except the band). Yes, I see that the movement is Bovet (which is actually why I am interested in the watch), and I am puzzled as to why Heuer would have another company buy a Landeron 47 ebauche, assemble it, stamp that company's name on it, and then put a Heuer dial on it?! Here is the Ranfft profile on the movement http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?10&ranfft&&2uswk&Landeron_47 from which it appears feasible that this could be a WWII period watch. Finally, I am cautious because the seller is from the Ukraine (which although it is a source of fakes, it is also a plausible location for finding these sorts of watches).
The seller gave the following reply to my request for info: All parts on this Watch is original. But the dial was restored. The watch and chronograph function is in a working good. The watch checked, adjusted by master in 2008. I purchased these watch for the veteran of war.
I'm interested in hearing from Heuer (and related) experts, or people with important relevant information, only. I can do my own guess work.
