My Sensi would always say that the two most important things to learn in your training.... was one balance is the key, and the other was to stay focused on your objective.
I've just conducted another belt test the past weekend. I have my own personal thoughts on belt test and belt promotions. But, I'm curious of what other people think of belt tests.
I had this discussion with a guy I train yesterday. He's been a student for just over a year & is getting ready to take his second MMA fight. In the process his opponent began to trash talk via internet interviews. He'd asked me how I thought he should respond & was becomming irrate. That's when our discussion began; I personally enjoyed the UFC from 15 years ago; when the athletes were respectful before & after the matches. I feel now that the UFC/ MMA is turning into WWE & the athletes have forgotten (or ignored) the purpose of competition & the virtues of bushido.

I my question is simple -- "Can professional boxers complete effectively in MMA competition?" There's an ongoing debate that professional boxers would dominate leagues like UFC, Prde, etc. I'm a boxing junky, but I'm not sold on the opinion that pugilism beats MMA. Any thoughts?
I've been stressing the necessity of travel to the country of origin in the art you study for the expressed purpose of learning from the local cultural masters. I have a strong belief that: 1) You will understand more of how to practice. 2) You will meet individuals that began around 3 years old. 3) Many have centered theri spiritual aspect and create unusual talents, of hitting with out hitting. 4) Control over the physical and meta-physical self. 5) The understanding of the "why?" practice necessity. And the many more creative developments of their internal energy with complete control. I met one old gentleman so flexible he could bend his fingers backward and touch his right forearm with the fingernail with his right fingers, as well as the left. Can you come up with some.
