One of my favorites was the first Paul McCobb piece I found. At the time, I lived in a large college town and students emptied their apartments just before Memorial day. Everything went to the curb. I came across this cool asymetrical, one drawer, wood and brass table with a heavy black marble top. There was a tag in the drawer that said something about Calvin, Irwin collection and a designers name. It went in the truck and home with me. This was long before the internet existed, so researching Midcentury items was a little more difficult:) After a couple years I discovered an article about Paul McCobb in an old trade magazine and I was hooked. The collection had begun before I even knew it. Twenty-odd years later the table still sit in our living room. These days we focus on Herman Miller, Howard Miller, AP, McCobb and other Modern pieces: from furniture to clocks, pottery and glass. Thanks for playing along.
I picked up some VERY strange chairs today - and after an exhausting search on ebay and the internet - I still can find nothing comparable. I'm hoping someone out there may have some knowledge on these? It's too bad I cant attach a picture here...hmmm. Well, they are made from plywood but are certainly not 'danish modern' they fit together like a puzzle with the different pieces interlocking. The arms are rounded and the sides have notch cut outs at the bottom for the 'legs'. Sounds confusing I know. Well, if there is a way for me to post a photo - I could sure use some knowledge here! HELP please :)
I am interested in selling my (6) original Knoll Cesca dining chairs. My father was a Knoll dealer in the 70-80's, and have been in my family since the mid-70's. All (6) are in good/excellent condition.
Offers accepted before I place them on Ebay or place them in consignment.
I have a few chairs that have worn out straps that support the seat cushions. These straps are a rubber-like elastic material. Does anyone know where to buy new straps or possible suggestions for repair. I am worried about stapling webbing as a replacement and would prefer something more authentic. Thanks!

I'm desperately trying to identify two chairs and an ottoman that I purchased second hand in the eighties. I am having them refurbished and don't know how much to spend. (should I use leather or fabric, should I paint or replace the swivel base, etc.) If anyone is willing to take a look and try to identify the designer/manufacturer, I sure would appreciate your effort.
I've used NDS to ship furniture and was very pleased with their services (www.nwdelivery.com / 888-827-6500). I've used uShip and a couple of other LTL carriers with less success as furniture either arrived dirty or was dropped off in the driveway or at a nearby major intersection. Any other stories, good and bad?
I have a beautiful Eames lamp. Unfortunately, due to being in storage for many years, there are some stains on the shade that look very difficult to remove. I honestly think they're bug poop. What's the safest way to remove these stains without damaging the shade?
