Hey Kats and Kittens! My wife and I had a chance to travel to Detroit last weekend for the 2008 Autorama. I thought the event was absolutely AWESOME! The best part of the show was the rat rods and traditional hot rods in the basement of the Cobo Center. This is the first time we've been able to make the trip. I was wondering if other members attended the show. If so, what did you think? How did it compare to previous shows? I've been posting some of the 80+ pictures I took at the show on my blog at : http://suedeandchrome.blogspot.com/, and plan to continue posting throughout the coming week. Stop by, check them out, and leave some comments.
I've recently seen several former display trucks listed on eBay. I called the local Old Navy store and the manager told me that all trucks would be removed from all stores. I've emailed a few of the sellers. Sounds like there is no engine or transmission...no brake, clutch, or accelerator...no wiring. There is a rear end. I've seen a few 1947-1954 chevrolet trucks at local car shows in the past few years on S-10 frames. If a guy could get one of the "prop" trucks (rumor has it there are some 600-1100 nationally) how hard would it be to put on an S-10 frame and make a rat truck?
Glad to be a member of the Rat Rod Neighborhood. I've enjoyed cars all of my life! My father always had something in the garage as I was growing up. Now I enjoy going to a lot of cruise-ins and car shows throughout the summer in the Midwest with my father and my kids. Thought I'd share a few photographs I've taken recently. I've posted a few in the photo section of this neighborhood. These were taken in Fairmount, Indiana and Gas City, Indiana during this year's James Dean Run and Ducktail Run. Let me know if you'd like to see more and I'll post other pictures in the future! Check out more pictures on my blog site at http://suedeandchrome.blogspot.com/
