I am thinking of selling my vintage snowmobile. It is a 1981 Artic Cat Pantera 5000 that still runs great! I am trying to find what a reasonable asking price would be. Is there a Blue Book for used snowmobiles? I am located in Michigan.
whats the real name for the tie downs that screw into the trailer an go threw the ski's and keep the sled in place and is there any around 4 sale, i need some.

There is going to be a Vintage Snowmobile Race again in Boonville NY. It is toward the end of January 08. I was at last years and the racing was great. Anyone out there planning on coming out to it this year?
I just recently bought a '96 Yamaha V-Max 600 XT. Of course it had no owners manual. Does anyone know of a source for manuals, or better yet, does anyone own one or a similar model? I would like to adjust the rear suspension for stiffness, as I am a big guy. Also, I was wondering about horsepower, any ideas? Thanks, and please......THINK SNOW!

My wife and I live in Colorado at an elevation of 8,000 + ft. and we got our first heavy snow the other day. Had 2 and 3 ft. drifts everywhere and our ditches where full - (about 3 1\2 - 4 ft. deep) My first thought was to crack out the sleds and go rippin!!! I bought a brand new Yamaha APEX at the end of last season and the sled has 275 miles on it. My wifes sled - (Mountain Cat) new as well but not as new was going to be the sacrificial lamb. After a moments thought and the vision of my wife beating the crap out of me if I hurt her sled, I decided to crack out the manuals and re-familiarize myself with the pre-season proceedures on maintenance. I was amazed at the things I had forgotten and how important they are to your sleds survival season after season. Needless to say the sleds are now fully maintained have been started and adjusted, lubed etc...The work I did helped feed the sled bug but I'm sure that will be short lived. The main thing is I avoided a beating and any damage to the sled by waiting. Now they are both fully maintained and ready for when there is actually enough snow to play in!!! Have fun and think snow, get you machine ready, and DON'T BREAK YOUR WIFES SLED !!!
I know these sleds are already rediculous with the R1 motor, but, I keep seeing these sleeve kits for the intake that are supposed to give snappy off the line power and 15hp. increase. Any one ever use em? Appreciate the feed back somethings work some dont! Later.
