I just finished reading his latest collection of short stories. The book's title is "Just After Sunset". Usual King, as good as ever. Oh yeah, hi everyone.
Amazon and Walmart are having price wars over Stephen King's New Novel Under the Dome! The suggested retail price is $35.00. I just pre-ordered mine from walmart at $8.99 with no shipping costs!
Take advantage of it now. No telling how long these deals will last.
I have been collecting and reading a lot of SK short stories lately. Just curious what everyone else thinks might be his best? My personal favorite has to be The Jaunt.
In Stephen King Goes to the Movies, he comments on five films made of his works: Shawshank Redemption, Children of the corn, Hearts In Atlantis, 1408, and The Mangler. Which is your favorite adaptation?
Good evening - I'd like to reintroduce myself since we haven't had many posts on here in the past few months. Please feel free to continue this with your own introductions (only giving the information you feel comfortable giving, of course).
My name is Amy, and I am a nurse in South Carolina. My husband, Chad, uses this same ebay address to make life easier for everyone. He is a World History teacher. We have two beautiful children who keep us very busy, but never too busy to read our favorite author.
As my husband wrote in a post long ago, we kind of sealed our relationship through Stephen King. We read books together (alternating nights and days), discussed the plots, and gave SK books as gifts for the first few years together. We have sometimes been disappointed with the books, but we realize that no one is perfect, and that all wells must run dry at least some of the time.
I'd love it if we could keep this going, if for no other reason than to show our appreciation for such a great writer!
Hello fellow constant readers. Just moved into the neighborhood. What is your favorite Stephen King Movie Cameo? Mine is "Man At Cashpoint" from the film "Maximum Overdrive." Short, but sweet. And hilarious as all get out!
This year for Halloween, Pennywise has come to Ebay. I currently make the Pennywise the Clown costume custom made to your size. I have even found someone who makes the mask. If interested check my listings.
I didn't know this place existed! This is my first time. My first experience with SK was Cycle of the Werewolf. Then came Cujo. That kept me up all night. After that I was hooked! I love SK's books&movies. Some of my favorites are The Stand, Salem's Lot, Langoliers, 1408, The Raft, Pet Semetary just to name a few. IT was also good, and The Library Police, and Needful Things. I could go on but I won't. It's great to talk to others who also enjoy these same things.
Come on guys - this is a board for the greatest writer of our age...can't we come up with something to discuss? We were having some great discussions on here a couple months ago..and now, the only people who are adding topics are people trying to sell their non-related junk! What do you like? What do you not like? What are Stephen King fans like? It has been so long since anyone even commented on a real post, that this board is basically dead. Why don't we start with a new introduction - I'll start it out on a new post.
Good afternoon fellow readers! Like some others here, I had no idea this existed, but man am I in the right place!
I've created a guide of books that are related to the Dark Tower series, but I need help with more references - I'm trying to read all of the ones that are claimed to be related (from the inside covers of DT books), but I still would like to have more. You may have caught something that I never noticed - especially since it has been 15 years since I have read some of these books. Please note that although there are websites and books on this topic, I'm doing all this on my own - it gives me the perfect excuse to go back and actually read these great books!
Just copy and paste the link below to find the page:
First off, a disclaimer, I love the movies that I'll be discussing, but I've found them to be the best movies to help me fall asleep. I watch them as often as possible during the day, but at night, I barely get through 5 minutes before I'm out like a light. If you have any problems sleeping, I recommend you pick up one or more of these movies - you'll love to watch them during the day and sleep to them during the night!
1st Place:
STORM OF THE CENTURY - this movie is the perfect sleep-movie! It is a "Maine-Movie" which means that it has a bluish filter to mute the colors. No bright flashes to wake you up after you fall asleep, and the colors are actually very calming. The volume level is very constant, with no loud or shocking noises throughout the movie. Finally, the DVD menu screen has a loop of soothing sound of waves crashing.
This is my favorite movie to sleep to, and you'll find it in my DVD player at least one week each month. I put it in, and I'm out! Try it for yourself, and it will replace any sleeping aids you are currently using. While I have slept through it a couple times during the day, it is mainly useful at night when it is quiet and dark.
P.S. It is a great movie, and well worth the price - I'm on my second copy because I've either watched it or slept to it literally hundreds of times!
all are 1st/1st I have one signed up for auction now if you are looking for any steven king novels just give me a shout and I'll let you know if I got it! thanks for looking. P.S.: all my books are rare and first editions many many different subjects.
Before I start talking, let me introduce myself fully; I am the husband of Scary_Nurse314, and all of "her" guides/reviews and most of her posts are mine. I am much more long-winded, and love to hear the sound of my own voice (and the sound of my own typing) much more than she does. While she certainly is a nurse (although not scary at all), I am a teacher of the history of the ancient world.
Now, on to the question at hand: what was your first book (or movie, even) that drew you into the world of Stephen King? What made you a fan of his works?
Even before I started reading SK, I was on a Boy Scout camping trip, and a high-school-aged fellow scout was talking about one of King's books (which I later learned was The Eyes of the Dragon). It was later that year, when I was still in either fifth or sixth grade, that I started reading Stephen King books. I think my first King book was "It," although I'm not terribly sure about that. I was astounded by the imagery of King's books, and remember being surprised that he used actual product brand names, like Pepsi, instead of the usual childhood books that did not. To be honest, I didn't understand a lot of what was going on at times since I was still fairly naive about the world...but I was hooked anyway. I continued reading King's books, and loving them more and more. As I grew older, and eventually outread King's writing, I started rereading them again (now in high school), and understood much better what was going on. I continued to read through college, found my wonderful future wife, and introduced her to the Dark Tower series. My first Christmas gift to her was my set of Dark Tower books, minus The Gunslinger (which I could not find anywhere since it was before the reprints). Since she had to start with The Gunslinger anyway, I had to borrow the book from my library and included it with the rest of the books that actually were a gift.
I often think that it was our love of Stephen King that finalized our life together...especially since I didn't have too much else to offer. For that (and for many other reasons), Stephen King will continue to be my favorite author of all time.
Has anyone else noticed the number of King characters that appear in more than one Novel or Short story. A few examples I found were....... Charity Camber-Cujo & Needful Things. Charlie Mgee- Firestarter & Tommyknockers. Gage Creed- Pet Semetary & Insomnia. Annie Wilkes-Misery & Dark Tower VII. Raymond garraty- The long Walk & Bag Of Bones. Intriguing stuff. Have I missed any? Do you guys know any more to add to my collection.
