Hey fellow vintage sellers! Just for fun, I am curious what everyone's prized possessions are in their store or private collections. Sometimes I find things that are so hard to want to sell but I know that they would just sit in my closet forever if I didn't sell it. My best item is a Don Loper wool suit. I had it in my store for a bit and decided to take it out until I could get it appraised. It was an incredibly lucky find and it is just my size. What to do what to do.........what is your best item? I've been away from selling on E-Bay for a few years. My speciality is vintage clothing and vintage jewelry.
Any tips for me?
I plan to sell again within the next few weeks. I will have lots of women's and men's clothing, shoes, purses, hats, jewelry to list.
I have not sold internationally in the past and have limited my sales to those in U.S. and Canada.
Most of my auctions start off around $9.99 and I rarely set a reserve. It is a bit of a gamble I know, and some things have gone at a much lower price than I expected.

Hi! I was wondering if anyone is an expert at dating purses. Years of looking at purses and reading books has given me an idea, but there are still specifics those books leave out. It would be useful to know how to date bags from the tags. I notice certain bags have a printed logo; when did that start? Anything will help!
Hi! Figure this would be a great place to ask a question I've had for a few months.
A lot of the vintage items we sell are big in certain countries, while not so big in others. It really depends on the style and where it's "big" at sometimes. I've received some bad feedback from an individual from the UK, claims his item never arrived (two leather Members Only jackets). There was also a chargeback for the item, in excess of $100.
What are the best shipping methods used by you guys? Is there a way to combat the growing amount of phony bidders?
I really don't want to stop shipping internationally, but it seems like the only way. It seems many others are having the same go at things.
I'm really surprised that I haven't gotten a single bid, all the items are in terrific condition! What's going on?? 320264435612, 320264432396, 320264440308,
When I first started selling full-time back in '04, this was a little GOLD MINE; not just for the Vintage genre, but for a lot of other categories as well. However about 6 to 8 months into it and the "Golden Age" of eBay came to a swift halt, BUT I was still able to make a decent living. Oh, there have always been some down times, though nothing that I couldn't doggy paddle through and come up on the other end still breathing. BUT LATELY! Ooooyyyyy....This past month, it's just been a struggle to make ends come anwhere NEAR meeting!
I rather expected it with the US economy in such a shambles, however I didn't expect things to drop off so very quickly. About the time that eBay instituted its new Feedback changes, it seemed like everything totally went downhill VERY QUICKLY. But that doesn't really make sense to me, for I haven't had any negative FB since then. No problems in that area as of yet. But the change was very radical; the drop in business, # of watchers and bids / the change was extremely sharp and sudden.
I am just wondering now, is this just me who is experiencing this? Am I doing something really wrong or NOT doing something really right? Or have any of you, my fellow Sellers and Peers, noticed a really drastic reduction in these areas in an unnaturally short period of time?
Call me a conspiracy theorist, if you will, but I just have never been one to trust any sort of really radical change made by big business without questioning the motives behind it. And there is a part of me that suspects that the smaller guys and gals like myself (and many of you) are gradually being filtered out. And by what means, I could never prove for I'm just an Internet business owner and certainly don't have any expertise in programming.
But maybe I'm wrong. Heck, I don't know. Perhaps I'm just not astute enough to effectively compete in this business any more; which is why I am writing now. I just want to know if any other Vintage seller out there can relate to what I'm experiencing, or if I'm truly alone on this one.
This might be a poor way to do it but I think it would be useful for people who love vintage and want to see who these sellers really are. There is a useful button at the bottom and if we can vote on its usefulness it will stay at the top of our new neighborhood and new people can look to see who we are & what we sell. I will go add in more tags as more people post but I hope it will help spread the love of vintage!
I'm new to this e-bay but not to vintage clothing.......let us all share are secrets in getting out stains from the variety of fabrics rayon, silk, linen, cotton, nylon, acetate etc. Thanks !
This beauty just sits in my closet so I've decided that its time to pass it on to someone who will wear it one in awhile. Please take a look, I started the auction low so that everyone can have a chance at this great piece.
Hi I have this very old Playgirl bag up for auction. Price is negotiable but I must sell it. Need the extra $$$. If anyone is interested- please feel free to ask any questions or place an offer. Also if anyone knows more about the bag or brand itself- that information would be helpful to me also. Thanks!! Have a great day!!
