Hello all... my question is, which is the correct key-less remote needed for my 1999 S80. The auto came with out one and there are a two (2) different ones for auction here which are visually different and I need to be sure of the one required for my vehicle. TIA..
I have a 1991 volvo 240 that just went dead in the middle of the road, I have no spark at the plug wires but I do have a spark coming off of coil wire. I replaced cap and rotor thinking they had to be problem but still no spark at plugs. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

I've got a 1991 240, bought it used and don't have the manual. I have, however, found manuals for an 1986 and a 1990 online; the 1986 says use 89 octane or higher, while the 1990 says 87 octane is fine. This is strange, because, as I understand it, the 240 engine is pretty much identical for all these years. And finally, the guys at cartalk.com say to use 89. So which is it? Does it even really matter?

I have, and currently use as a daily driver a 1964 Volvo PV544 Sedan.
The basic car design is from about 1953, when Volvo began exporting these cars to the U.S. In 1958 Volvo stopped production of the model 444 sedan and started shipping the model PV544. These two cars look very much the same (especially when they pass you on the road) but you can easily tell the PV444 because it has a two-piece windshield of flat glass whereas the PV544 has a one-piece windshield of curved glass.
There are a lot of Vintage Volvo sites on the Internet, so there's no reason to repeat all that information here.
Volvo decided that racing would enhance their cars' image and help sell of them. Instead of going into track racing like Sebring or Willow Springs, they built Rally cars and raced them. The tough little cars were amazingly adept,. and the marque was named as 'World Champion' several times in the early 1960's. Although the cars had little horsepower by today's standards, the light weight, economy, and nimble handling was just the thing European drivers were looking for. In fact, the letters 'PV' stand for the term 'Personwagen', which is 'Peoples' Car'. Oddly enough, that's exactly what the Germans term 'Volkswagen' stands for.

I can't claim to be the highest authority on these cars, but I have raced them in the 1970's and I've also fixed or replaced just about every part on my own car.
NOTE: I recently inherited my father's 1965 Volvo P1800s, which he bought new.
If you have questions, please feel free to post them. I check in here every few days.

We're a small business Volvo dealer (commercial trucks) with tons of parts which are obsolete to us. We have just about any type of air filter or engine block heater you might be looking for and are over-stocked on them. Looking for anything else? Just ask
I bought my 2001 V70 T5 wagon last November and have been gradually making that little red "grocery-getter" look more like a bad-ass car! Now Ive seen the spoilers that Volvo makes for the wagons, and it looks awesome but maybe not at the 500 price tag that came with it! Any ideas where to start looking for an aftermarket piece or a used one. Thanx for the help! -Lara
I have a 1998 S70 GLT. Over time, the buttons for radio, windows etc got kind of cruddy. The best way to clean them is a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Worked like a charm.
Just thought I'd share this bit of info. Now if I could only get the scratches off the upholstery and center console from the dogs' nails.....
I have wanted one for a long time and picked on up last week for a song. We are the proud new owners of an 89 740 gle wagon with the 16 valve engine and 5 spd. trans. we paid a whopping 300.00 for it and drove it home. Plus it only has 245,000 miles thats like almost new, runs and drives like a dream and after a few cosmetic and mechanical repairs we will be able to enjoy it for years to come.
I recently bought a 2001 Volvo V70 T5. I realized that the spec tag that is usually located inside the gas tank door was missing. What I need to know is what the optimal tire pressures are for that car. No one can give me a definate answer, and the owners manual just says to refer to that label, which like I said is missing. Can anyone help me out? If you drive a '01 V70 T5, the next time you go to fill up the tank, let me know what the label says the tire pressure should be for the front and rear tires. That would be great! thanx
I own a 2002 Volvo c70 with the radio model SC-901 and after my battery went dead the radio says "CODE" yet I never received one, nor know what to do, does anyone know the radio code for that model of a radio?
