	What are Book of Shadows made out of these days? MM and greetings to you all! I have what may seem like an odd question for you all but I have it nonetheless. I was brought up to understand that a book of shadows is made of parchment and hand made paper depending on various things. The covers that I have ever known were leather or wood, again varing based on the focus of the owner/creator and they are tie bound so that pages can be added and the book expanded. The tie was made and woven in a very specific way as well. Is that not the case any longer or is it simply that it has grown to be something that only a few now know how to make and therefore are passed through covens only? I would also like to ask if any of the rest of the experienced witches if they were taught or believe that they're spirit even after death will be attuned and attentive to their book of shadows? I was also taught this and personally believe it to be true. Thanks for any thoughts or comments in advance. 	Local Covens: tips on name meanings please Merry Meet to all on this fine night, I was wondering about the meanings and/or traditions that follow up with certain names, because I am hoping to try contacting some local covens nearby to see which is right for me. Moon Dragon Coven is an interesting one, but my guardian suggested a BloodMoon coven? Is there such a thing? Or was he trying to say the moondragon coven? I know that I have a game called bloodmoon, which has magic in it, but it is a bit old and I doubt that is where he got it from. 	Spirits in photos and videos. Hello all and Merry Meet! I was taking a video recently with my camera of my friend practicing for our cosplay this hallow's eve. I uploaded it to my computer and noticed a blurred image in the chair and at first I thought nothing of it, but my friend pointed out that I should take a closer look as did my mother. Well I zoomed in and to my surprise, I saw the blurred faint image of my youngest adopted daughter sitting in the chair during Wiley's entire practice display! She was watching him perform! How cute! Another instance that even my brother found convincing was tonight when Wiley took a few photos of me outside, but with a much better camera. When I checked the photos, I saw orange-red light in the photo of me seeming to rise right out of my body in streams, and what looked like dark red-orange mist in the bottom of the image near my legs. The next photo taken had what looks like my shoulders super imposed above and behind me, but not infront of me and in golden yellow with a tint of orange, again with the mist at the bottom. I was curious and asked if it was my guardian, and if so, I asked him very very nicely to please appear somehow in the next photo and sure enough there was the mist again, but what looked like a big blanket of golden outlined in red over my face and shoulders. Anyone have any idea as to if this was spiritual energy in the photos or just my aura? Also if your interested in seeing Taylor in the video, you will have to tell me because my friend is embarrassed about showing himself acting like the wrestler called The Undertaker. haha. 	Ruth Drown: Radionic Healer Ruth Drown used a form of spiritual healing that was based on combining the numerological magick of the Qabalah with scientific magick of the human electro-chemical glandular system as stimulated by the circuitry developed by Albert Abrams. It is very different that the sort of Radionics that we see in the more popular magickal radionic websites that turn up with a search on Radionics. Ruth was able to intuitively tap into what Israel Regardie calls the middle pillar in a physical way. The spheres of influence on the middle pilliar are similar to the chakras of kundalini yoga. Borderland Scientists have come to understand the chakras as the glandular plexus and glands. Ruth Drown was able to tap into the energy generating centers of the nervous system with a device that consisted of a silver foot plate and a tin block that would be held against the solar plexus. When the body is placed within this circuit a galvanic current is set in motion. Galvanic electricity flows at very very subtle levels but can be seen to increase with emotional intensity. The galvanic currents are generated and pass through the glands along the wires of the nervous system. The Drown Radio Therepy box allows this energy to be harnessed and passed through a series of coils that are attached to dials. These dials are calibrated from 1 to 10 and have a direct relationship to the Tree of Life. It can be glimpsed here how the nervous system is the physical tree of life that is spoken about in myth and symbolism. With a highly developed intutituve sense that is very similar to dowsing she would use what is called a stick pad to detect energy blocks. The stick pad is a rubber diaphram streched over a hollow core. The diamagnetic nature of rubber is harder to explain but gives a reaction between the electomagnetic energies (galvanic currents) of the body and the energies within the healers body. She was able to then tune the box to correct the energy imbalance and retore the natural harmony of the body's internal etheric structure which is the blue print that the glands use to sustain health. 	Want to take a go at making your own candles? If anyone out there wants to attempt to do their own candles or just have a fun new project to do with their kids I am putting up some of what I have? I seem to be stuck on the hand dipping techniques and just can't seem to enjoy molds so why fight it. :D lol Anyway, thought I would let you know I had it up as it is listed under candle making not Wicca. 	A Call For Supportive Candles to be lit. MM to all, I have just had an experience that has shaken me to my very soul and I would like to ask anyone who reads this to light a candle of peace and strength to go to me (Aly). I leave my home only once a month these days and only when the spirits advise it. Today I was urged to make an early journey out. On the way to the first stop, which is a bit of a country drive, we heard a cry out for help that shook me and my partner to the bone. We stopped immediately and without thinking I got out of the van and heard it again and began walking as well and fast as I could towards the cry, calling to her that we had heard her and help was coming. My mind was split many ways, part of the task at hand to aid this girl, but others were locked in the times that we have called out like that either to the spirits or verbally. The most significant was the night that I was beaten and left to die, the night that I suffered my life changing stroke and so much more. The girl on the side of the road had had a deer cross her path while driving on a rainy day with wet roads. She broke fast and turned her wheel and of course hydroplaned, went over the small culvert bridge and her car flipped totally over on the hood trapping her. She screamed for help for a bit and than managed with the ample help of the spirits to get out of the car which was how we could finally hear her as we passed by. Her chilling words of "I was screaming for help and no one stopped, no one seemed to hear me or care. I thought I would die." Froze much of my being in time. We got her help from 911 and got her father but I can't shake the blending of your voice and mine ringing in my ears over and over again. I can't seem to get my body to step through the shock it had been in, triggered again by the adrenaline of the moment, and realize that our horror is now long, long over. For so very many years now I have frozen at every sound of a car passing or driving up our drive way or people passing nearby speaking with a mix of fear for my life that I will be hurt by them or passed over and not cared about by them. For a time I felt that way about the spirits but I have long gotten over that yet the fear of fleshly souls still remains ever powerful in it's control over me. So, I am asking simply that if there is any physical soul out there drawn to read this who can light a simple candle, any candle, and simply ask any spirit of light and life to bring calm to my body I will be eternally grateful. 	The book for totally newbie to Wicca is ....? Okay, this will tell you how out of touch with the beginning I am. :) If you had someone who knew only the very basics about Wicca, attracted mainly because they knew we were peaceful and natural, who is also on a budget, what book would you recommend them to get to learn an overview without going too intense? Preferably one that doesn't force learning a foreign language on the person as "a must" and "only proper" sort of posture. I know, a lot to ask. :D I recommended Scott Cunningham who has both inexpensive and more pricy books depending on the subject. However I admit that I haven't had to look at it from such a beginning view point. Has anyone else? Any thoughts I know she would welcome. 	Introduce Myself... Hello & Merry Meet! I just wanted to introduce myself to this community. I joined a month ago about, and am just now getting around to saying "hi!". Anyways, I've been practicing Kitchen Witchery Solitarily for 3 years now but I've been compelled towards this path my whole life (of 24 years), lol! I have German & Native American heritage mostly, & I like to think that being involved in the Occult has always been in my blood. I am a mother to a beautiful 3 1/2 yr old little girl, and I'll be married 5 years next month to a most wonderful man! I'm also a musican, crafter, & a perfectionist, lol! ;) Anyways, hello & I'd love to meet you folks out there who also are involved in this community!
