I have had a good result from using Cat Pheremone with 3 cats. It very much calms the cats and decreases tension. Anyone else in the neighborhood of cats tried this?

Its seems to me having a star is important.. Right?? How do you get one if the buyer does not leave feedback?? :-( Is this a big problem at first or maybe I'm doing something wrong?? Any advice?? Anybody??

Ok it's time to address a couple of things;

1 This is a place to share information & stop rudely attacking people with good hearts who share our beliefs.

2 I think we all agree on one thing & that is we all all love animals.

3 Our intelligence does not need to be insulted nor that of our family members/friends.

4 Some of us like to eat meat & some are veggie eaters.

5 Some of us prefer purebreds & mixes both.

6 Many people are offended & will not return for the above reasons & a few other.

I just read a thread in another neighborhood that really saddened me. Someone, an animal lover, had their wonderful dog stolen out of their yard. I thought maybe we could discuss precautions that we can all take with our pets so that this never happens!

I personally, never leave my dogs outside in the yard unless I am home to keep an eye on them. However, we all know that thefts can occur in a split second...the ten minutes that you are occupied somewhere else in the house... they are tagged and microchipped, but that won't necessarily help in the case of theft.

And some people have to be gone from home for hours at a time, leaving their dogs outdoors.

What precautions does everyone else take when their dogs are out? Might have ideas that are very helpful to all...

The calendar may not say so, but winter...or, at least winter weather has arrived. It's 19 degrees here this morning, with wind and snow. Have had to start rotating water buckets, bringing some inside to thaw.

I know that there are a lot of dogs who live outdoors, and just thought that it is a good time to remind folks that their pets have some special needs in cold weather.
Water bowls/buckets freeze quickly, so make sure that you check often to make sure your pet has an adequate supply of water available to them.
Replenish bedding in your dog's box with lots of fresh straw. The insulating properties of straw are amazing and will keep your pet warm, as long as the straw is fresh and there is a sufficient amount for your dog to nestle in. A bale of straw is very inexpensive and can be readily found.
Likewise, make sure that the opening to your dog's box faces away from the prevailing winds.
If you normally feed your dog once a day, consider dividing the one meal into two. A dog will stay warmer and be happier with a bit of food in the tummy. It is also a good idea to increase the amount that you feed a little bit.
Check your dog's paws for compacted ice that gets between the pads. Very uncomfortable for your pet.
If the weather gets extremely cold, bring your dog inside until the worst of it passes. Consider putting a bed in your garage or basement. Better to be safe than sorry.
Lastly, I know that it is sometimes difficult to force yourself out into the cold...I often dread it myself, but the little bit of extra effort that it will take to make your dog (or pet of any kind) comfy...even in harsh winter weather, will be well worth it. Take a few minutes to talk and pay attention to your dog while you are caring for him..let him know that you haven't forgotten about him, even though you aren't spending as much time outdoors.

I agree with shoppinsunshine - this is a NH for discussions about DOGS and please lets keep it that way !!! I joined this NH because it was a place to talk about dogs. I have laughed and I have cried over different discussions. I have been educated and entertained by others. The main thing was they were about dogs. I have not always agreed with everything stated, but I respected it as appropriate for this site because it was about dogs. I politely would state my opinion and leave it at that. It is when I see other topics of discussion such as one trying to sell a baby phat coat to the political discussion recently posted on this site that I feel the need to say something. Neither of those discussions had anything to do with dogs. I am not opposed to people expressing their opinions. It's just that people should know the appropriate time and place. For example there is absolutely nothing wrong with a patient discussing their nausea, vomiting and diarrhea with their nurse, however I don't think it is an appropriate topic of discuss for the dinner table at a formal dinner party. Once people start discussing everything and anything on this site - it will no longer be a site for just dogs. There are other sites available to sell your stuff and express your opinions about other topics. Please lets keep this as a site for dogs and express your other opinions in an appropriate site. I open this question to the NH. Is this a site to discuss dogs or is any and all topics OK to discuss here???

I am fairly new to this NH and this is the first time I've actually ever joined anything like this. I really like it a lot. I love hearing from other dog lovers. This place is great. I have laughed and also cried. I have also been educated and entertained. I love the story that never ends. I can't understand why people come here to sell things that have nothing to do with dogs. For example - if I wanted to buy a baby phatt coat I would go on ebay and look for one to buy. I realize the best thing to do is not to answer this individual and the message will move back. Baby Phat coats !! political views !! art work !! Now - Halloween costumes ?? I will not even comment on the earn extra cash insult !! That's just slime. These people are so Disrespectful !!!! They are nothing but SPAMMERs. There is nothing wrong per say with coats or art or political views or costumes, it's that none of the above have anything to do with dogs - not one thing. Just imagine if every single ebay seller disrespected this site as they have and decided to spam their wares here. Just look at how many sellers there are on ebay !!! Oh my gosh !! we would have to hunt like crazy to read anything about dogs. I really enjoy this site a lot. It's a place to come to read and share about dogs - anything as long as it has something to do about dogs. I don't always like or agree with what is written here - but as long as it's about dogs - well this is a site about dogs so I view it for what it is - a difference of opinion, not being disrespected. This is a place to share stories about our beloved dogs & not sell your wares by spamming the neighborhood repeatly. We all have things to sell & that's fine but we want to hear about YOUR babies as well & not just trying to get us to buy your stuff without hearing about your babies. A few posts don't even talk about their babies? Do you do this to all the neighborhoods? You are taking up other peoples' space that want to talk about babies & health or otherwise related issues.

The animal rescue site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to neglected & abused animals. Please go to their site and click on the purple box "fund food for animals" for free. It doesn't cost a thing. Sponsors and advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food in exchange for advertising. I bookmarked the site and click it every day.
www.theanimalrescuesite.com. It's a great idea and this neighborhood would help feed these poor animals.

I have an 11 year old chihuahua/pomeranian mix (Xena) who was recently diagnosed with bladder cancer. My vet thought she just had a urinary tract infection and had her on antiobiotics, but when that didn't work, he did more testing and then thought she had a bladder stone. I scheduled the surgery and she did, indeed, have a stone, but he also found a mass that he sent to a lab. It was one week later when he called and told me the mass was cancer and there is no cure or treatment. She has been the joy of my life and needless to say, I was devastated. She seems to feel okay, eats well and acts normal, except she has a real problem getting all her pee out - it is quite an ordeal for her when she goes outside, because it takes her a long time to get her pee out, and it comes out in drips, then maybe a very small stream, then more drips. I know that has to exhaust her being in the squatting position for so long, so many times a day.

I don't know what to expect - has anyone had to deal with this? My vet said it is very unusual for a dog to get bladder cancer. I just don't know if she'll be okay today and die tomorrow....I just don't want my baby to suffer for one second of her life. Thanks for your input. Linda

good morning world. It is a beautiful day out today. California weather. got to love it. just wanted to check and see if any one has any info on the royal blue peanut as to what is the 1st year that they came out. I have seen them for as much as 2,000.00 recently on ebay and as least as 29.00 us dollars. So if any one knows the information on this I really want to know and I am certain that millions of others would like to know as well. and of course I know that all items are worth what one wishes to pay. Still all items have a certain value. Thank you in advance for any help in this area. Have a blessed day.
