I am wondering,if there is any 80's dance clubs anymore.I love going dancing and my favorate club was a milwaukee club, friday night is eighties night, they play industrail, punk, dance, new wave, and older rap(rapper's delight),I loved it,and it was only one in milwaukee.I went there recently and there was hardly anyone there, almost empty.
I was wondering if there is a demand for something like that anywhere and where are they?
I go to clubs that play exactly the same stuff. Are you getting that where you are.top 40's rap( and they are naughty lyrics) It's everywhere.
I DJ @ that Milwaukee 80's club (Mad Planet). I haven't been there due to an illness, but I tell you it still rocks, at least when I'm DJing (DJRAF). The crowd has a tendency to arrive late (after 11), but from there until close, it's all flashback fanaticism! Join me this coming Friday, the 6th, when I make a comeback!
Well, I live on Long Island (NY), and there is one very popular 80s club in Amityville called Subculture @ Molly Bloom's that attracts a rather large New Wave/alternative crowd, where my friend DJ Cody spins. He also DJs private parties (birthdays, weddings, Sweet 16s, etc), and I'd roadied for him, and I have to tell you, there have been more and more people asking for 80s-themed parties, even for the Sweet 16 parties! There are a few lesser-known nights at other LI clubs as well, and my friend DJ Rob Nitro spins 70s Punk and 80s New Wave/post-punk, etc., in Brooklyn and Manhattan. The Williamsburg section of Brooklyn has become the hotbed of the new alternative music scene in NYC and a number of clubs/bars host 80s nights. It's what the Village USED to be like in the 80s. My friend Vera DJs "Echo of the Eighties" on the 3rd Friday night of the month on WUSB (90.1 FM; wusb.fm), SUNY-Stony Brook's college radio station. Newark (NJ), Boston and Montreal also have some pretty awesome 80s New Wave/Alternative/Punk/Industrial nights as well. So, yes, you are not alone. There is still an interest in 80s music! :)
rockincat68, that was one fantastic review and update of the 80's music scene and how it's doing today. I have often wondered why there were not more (or any) "flashback retro clubs." Its very cool to hear and makes me happy that there are clubs like this. My hangout was City Gardens, Trenton, NJ. C'ya - spitfire_mk.vb
