What exactly do you mean by "lazy eye"? Is is slow to open or close? I had a vintage Revlon type lady doll with this type of problem and it was caused by the doll's head being slightly "pressed" too long. She was problably put away wrong and left that way too long. It put pressure on the face affecting the eyes. I gently heated up the face with a warm blow dryer for a few seconds at a time and while I applied the heat I also used my free hand to gently squeeze the doll's head at the temples. It didn't take much to get the doll's face/eye area back to it normal shape. Your doll might not appear to have been "squished" much, but your daughter may have laid on the doll in her sleep for long enough to have slightly pressed the vinyl out of shape even if "ever so slightly". I would also take a slightly damp Q tip to gently clean around the doll's eye first (the eye should be in the closed position) and see if this simple cleaning removes and grit, lint or film that may have worked into the fine seam around the doll's eye area. A dirty eye seam/rim will also slow down the eye from opening or closing, too. Good luck. SAB

I think it probably depends on the reason the eye is sticking. As guineapigtamer explained, sometimes it's becasuse of the way the doll was stored (or sleeping). After reading that dolls with sleep eyes should never be stored on their back, I noticed that at the AG store, the ones they are selling are all stored with their boxes in an upright position. I've also read that it's better to keep them face down, rather than on their back.

Another reason dolls' eyes stick is due to rust. While I can't remember if I've ever tried it or not, I've read that a few drops of MACHINE oil in the corner of the eye can correct it.

Finally, I've also found that if the problem is new to a particular doll . . . especially if it's been laying in the same position for an extended period of time . . . sometimes it just takes a few taps on the temple of the affected side to start it moving again. If it works, I generally repeat that step several times asd keep an eye on the doll for the next few days, checking it periodically. If the problem returns, I figure it's probably time for a trip to the ophthamologist at AG's doll hospital!
