Identifying items is a skill that will grow with time. I find this site to be very helpful. http://www.mygrannysatticantiques.com/index.html It has a great chart of identifying stamps and markings. Usually I just type in as much description as I can on Google and see what comes up. As far as pricing goes the advanced search on Ebay has a "completed listings" option. This is very handy as it shows you what people actually pay for an item rather than what sellers are asking. Hope this helps.
I have been antiquing for about 4 months learning from my folks who have been doing this for over 5 years. One thing to remember is 1st you can’t know every thing about everything. Focus on a few groups and learn the age, company logos etc … When I say a few groups I am referring to Glassware, furniture, farm equipment, post cards or prints …. If you try to learn about “everything old” you’ll loose that focus. My 2nd suggestion is to read, read and do more reading about the old things you have choose to focus on. Internet is good, but I suggest you get a book too. You can pick a book on most anything you decided on at Barns and Noble or find it here on eBay and help a fellow seller. Good luck! Richard
Hi - your listings are attractive and look really nice. I think you need to give more information about many of them - measurements for everything! Also, it is very important to spell everything correctly. Iridescent, for instance. Spelling errors create a completely different image for a buyer than you want to project. Also, If the jewelry has any markings of any kind on it such as signatures, brands, type of metal, and material used to string items like beads, you will want to include that. Patricia
