I haven't heard anything bad about apple products therefor I have purchased an IMAC G4 as a starter. Now I know that they cant get viruses but I dont know if their are any bad sides to the apple computers. With that said I wonder if Limewire can give a virus to a Mac.
Mac envy is a con to ownership... but that is the only one I have found.... iMacs are great to cut your teeth on. Limewire can give you viruses, I think Lars from Metallica pays hackers to infect Limewire for kicks... lol
Just NOW I was surfing the web on my PowerMac g4 DUal Processor. I had it by the window where the sun was hitting it, still im not sure that was the reason why, but some of words on all the websites i was scrolling through were cluttered up together. Like the word "helllo" was over the word.. lets say jumped.
I reseted the machine and it was back to normal. Put my hand on it and everything didn't felt hot.
I was downloading Office 2008 at the same time though...hmm.
Generally speaking, any computer can get a virus whether a Mac or not. You can get an infection from Limewire but the virus must be written especially for the Mac which is rare but they do exist.
As for cons, one of the biggest I've heard people mention with the iMac is that you cannot upgrade your video hardware as it's fully integrated into the mother board. Also, if you are a gamer the Mac isn't the best platform simply because many popular games aren't written or adapted to the Mac. Otherwise there are few cons to Mac ownership.
