Apple want's $300 to replace broken glass on an Iphone. Applecare doesn't cover an accident and you can't get insurance either. THIS IS LUDICROUS! Anyone suffer a similar fate?

Hello, may be you can find a solution here: http://stores.ebay.it/EZ-iPod-Repair-Parts
It seems they have iPhone LCD screen and Touch panel.
Good luck!

Check the credit card you used to buy the iPhone. Many have a "buyers assurance" program that covers losses for any reason in the first 90 days after purchase. I did run into a fellow at Kinkos one day, I was dispatching my iPhone that had a battery problem and he was returning the loaner Apple provided after they repaired his broken glass under warranty.

I broke my iphone screen, too. I bought one of the glass replacements off ebay and posted a tutorial on my experience here:

Total cost: ~$35

Jep, mine fell out of my breast pocket as I bent over to pick something up, and it fell just 40 cm. That was all it took. But I found a pretty cheap replacement and the job wasn't that hard really. Tutorial online at http://pappmaskin.no/2009/09/repair-a-broken-iphone-3g-glass-front-panel/

Hi,

I just wanted to let some people in on a little secret about how to get the iphone replaced for free with a broken glass.pay very good attention I was able to get my Iphone replace for free at my local apple store.there seems to be a small snag in apple policy on not replacing accidental damaged iphones and the snag is that if the glass is broken cracked or damaged by a manafactuers defect, they have no choice but to replace the phone free of charge but the catch is you must call in the issue to apple care and then go to the store and trade in your phone.I called apple care and told them that I came home and plugged my phone to the wall charger and suddenly a light layer of thin smoke started to form under my screen.the power was shorted in the bedroom due to the sparks that were dispursed from the iphone for about 2 seconds and due to the smoke build up under the screen, the pressure caused my screen to shatter.this was on a 1 week old 8Gb 3g and it was replaced with no problem at all.

good luxk to all
