I recently bought one off of ebay, and when I took the sim card out it said tmobile. I was currently with ATT, so I called ATT and they told me that I would need a new sim card and that I couldn't use my current ATT sim card with it. They told me that they would send me a new one for FREE in the mail. They didn't have any on hand so she sent me to an ATT store and gave me a 25 dollar credit for purchasing a new sim card.
But as soon as I got the new sim card plugged it into my phone and connected to iTunes, it went smoothly.
I would not buy a iphone off ebay,have you seen what sellers are charging? $800 to over a $1000! When you can get one for $199 8gb,$299 16gb if eligible for an upgrade or $299 8gb,$399 16gb if not eligible for an upgrade but you still have to sign a 2 yr contract.If you want the no commitment price it is $599 for 8gb or $699 for 16gb.You are are already with At&t so why spend that money if you don't have to.And Apple stores do still have stoch available.Good luck! I just got my White 16gb 3G yesterday and i love it! i already had the original iphone so i've been waiting on the 3G.I had to wait in line but i got it and for only $299.There is no way i'd buy one one here on ebay,it's highway robbery!
I agree with the previous poster. I think if you total it out you will even save money if you cancel your current phone with att pay the early term fee (ETF).
If you just create a new contract with a new number you're still paying on that other phone, like adding a line type of deal.
So if you add it to the family share plan for just 10 dollars more, that a whole new contract of 2 years. Which is 240 dollars extra Compare that to and ETF fee, because I heard that ATT will prorate the ETF. Now if your ETF is Less than 240 then terminate your current contract port the number to your new iphone.
