I heard the improve iPhone will be out around June. Although I wouldn't "fight" for it when it first comes out, it is supposed to be much improved with a faster internet access.

Hi, AT&T has said that they would offer the new Apple iPhone G3 model for $199 with a 2 minimum year contract - in June 2008. The G3 is a a little thinner than the previous version and comes a GPS chip and capability.
If you want 3G (faster data), then wait for the new iPhone. The data plan will be more expensive though. If you want the cheaper ($20) data plan, then buy your iPhone now. I don't know if the lower model iPhone will still be available after iPhone II comes out? IF YOU BUY AN iPHONE 2, YOU CAN'T BUY THE $20 PLAN.

if you're going to be unlocking the iphone for use with t-mobile or something then don't bother waiting. It won't end up cheaper -- will end up more expensive due to the difficulties in acquiring them due to ATT forcing the locks now (not gonna be able to go to the apple store and buy one without a contract anymore). If you're getting one for use with ATT then definitely wait. Just be prepared for the pretty 100$+ phone bills w/ att -- if you can afford it then no problem.
