My four year old son Jacob and my 2 1/2 year old Aidan were diagnosed in November, they are taking a low dosage anti seizure medicine but it isn't helping. They can't start therapy until March 2009 that is how long the wait is here. I have several videos on youtube (am I allowed to say that?) I would love to get to know everyone. Also I have a 13 year old that I believe was misdiagnosed when he was 2 1/2, they said he was ADHD ODD and I think he is mildly Autistic like myself and outgrew most of his. I wish that were the same for my Jacob and Aidan, they are not mildly Autistic. Well I hope to jump right in.~Shay
Dear, which of the medications were prescribed? Klonopin was prescribed for my daughter by the psychiatrist/Director of a hospital. We thought she just needed something to calm her down and we discussed at length that this would be addictive and she would be on this medication her entire life. Her father and I really thought this was what she needed. On the first dosage she just had a meltdown, she was morose. We had the dosage lowered but still the same reaction. Not what we expected- so we stopped after a week it was only causing her pain and making her worse.
Are all of your sons Autisic? I have four daughters and only my youngest has any problem with anything. But she has problems generally all the time. She has grown out of a lot of her behaviours and is so intelligent and so witty and outgoing it just breaks my heart of the potential she could have had.
What kind of therapy will they be starting in March? My youngest was started on the therapy at a relatively young age after a couple of years of misdiagnoses and terribly wrong drug therapy., strong drugs such as Paxil, Prozak and the like, though she was not depressed.
