Is anyone else pissed about the so called handling fees? I love it when I read a listing and they say," actual shipping cost", you are my favorite sellers. Where is the need to charge for example, a $2, handling fee per doll? Start your opening bid a couple of bucks higher if you need to. Don't insult me by a handling fee or a high shipping charge that is more than the winning bid of the doll. I understand about overseas but within the U. S., can't one charge the actual shipping cost??? PLEASE!!!

Amen!!!!!! Today I recieved 3 items-all of which were 150%-200% of what I as charged!! These were in plain envelopes, not padded. And the worst offender uses stamps .com! This is sooooooo! frustrating. I left ositve feedback because they were good, nice items, but havve contacted the seller asking them to review their charges-what else is there to do?

I find overcharging for postage very frustrating, too. I usually email the seller about it, to be sure the charges are "correct", then I DON"T BID on the item. I don't like to reward this sort of thing. Sellers are trying to get extra money for their Paypal charges (you have to use Paypal now, no options), and to cover gas to take your item to the post office, for packing materials and so on. I think the cost of this stuff is part of doing business and should not be "extra" on your postal charges. So I don't reward sellers who make these outrageous charges by bidding on their items, no matter how much I want them.

Hi
I have noticed that a lot of people list their items for .99
and the postage at 8.00 or what they want for the item vs. listing it for 9.oo. The advantage I see to this is the fee that ebay charges is based on the listed price not the postage.... So that makes sense in a way.

I agree with a handling fee of up to 1.50 over the actual postage, because we do have to buy all the supplies that go with the shipping of the items. But some out there just don't make sense.... then people pay it.
Have a great weekend

Yep, those "handling fees" and postage over-charges are getting to be a pain in the tush!
When I was selling all my collection of porcelain dolls I did charge a $2.50 handling charge because of the extra expenses of packaging big heavy dolls, and that $2.50 hardly ever covered the costs. But for Barbies? No way should there be any "handling charge" what-so-ever on Barbies unless it is a shipment with lots of them in their original boxes or something like that. Even then you can get a free box at so many stores.
This is only my opinion, and you know what they say...lol!

A few times I've gotten stuck by buying cheap items only to figure out I forgot to check the S & H charge. I flat out refuse to bid on anything that is clearly reflecting overstated shipping charges. I even have that posted on my profile. That is why I save my favorite sellers. E-Bay is certainly not my only shopping source.

interestingly,e-bay specifically states gas ,mileage, and time are NOT legitimate "handling fees" -it's for packaging materials. When I contacted the sellers-ALL of them used "gas, mileage, and time" as a reason for the difference in cost. I'm trying to get up the gumption to sell my Barbie collection on e-bay,but the thought that I'll miss something REALLY important in the fine print is intimidating. Do they have an outline to follow so you don't mess up too bad?

Cost+S/H=total I don't really care how a seller divides the final bill. I only care that the Doll arrives in the condition I paid for and what the total payment is.
If the seller is trying to chisel Ebay out of a few cents on their FVF it is not my concern. I purchased a Barbie lighted sign for $.01 once with $29.95 S/H I think it is very cool and well worth the $29.96 I paid for it.
