My First Time

The first time I ever went to a bead show I thought I was having a heart attack! When I walked into the room I felt light headed and my heart started pounding faster, I started to get hot, I thought I was going to faint. I felt sick. It didn't last too long though. Has this ever happened to anyone else? My husband says I'm obsessed. Is that bad? I'm not hurting anyone. I don't know maybe I am. All I know is I love to bead and making beautiful things from them!

Isn't it crazy how little round (square, oval, bicone...) things can bring out such intense emotions? I also love to take these shiny little things and create (what I believe to be) works of art! It is fulfilling and exhilarating. Nice to meet another bead obsessive, Kim

You are quite normal, I felt the same way when I first went to a bead show. My friends tell me I am crazy, but I knew I wasn't. I am so glad there are others out there like me. Beading is my passion and I am proud of my creations and people actually pay for them. I just love it!

I love bead and gem shows, so many bright sparkly things to look at. I feel like a magpie!!!!!
But on the downside there is way to much to chose from, and trying to be good and look at everything before you buy does not work cause you forget where you say that jasper you just can't live without was and the silver spacers that you just had to have are all gone when you go back.

It has taken me 50 years to figure out what I want to do when I grow up and that is make jewelry. And the way I figured it out was by the way my heart beats faster and faster when I look at bead magazines and bring out my wonderful collections of beads to start creating. I have done a lot of other crafts but this one just makes my heart warm. Happy bead hunting and happy beading.

That does sound like an addictive response...its also possible the flourescent lights or chemicals in the room, energy from the gemstone beads or rough crystals if there were any, or the people, might have hit your system hard. It happens to me sometimes at the Tucson show depending on the venue. Pure overload...enjoy your habit...

Hi I'm new to the NH and wanted to introduce myself. I'm gwen. I make handcrafted beaded jewelry. I started looking online at beads and got addicted. Especially the natural semi precious stones. I did not know rocks could have so many color and be so beautiful. I decided to try my hand at making something out of the stones I bought and here I am now trying to sell them. The more I look at beads the more I want. Anyway nice to meet you all. gwen

There are two beads shows coming up in Sept on consecutive weekends - I've never been to two so close together and I'm so excited. It doesn't matter how many times I go - each time it's that giddy, happy feeling. Love to look, shop, buy, design, create, make and sell. Glad to know there are others too! Swarovski's anyone?
