That's a tough one...I am a big fan of Revolver, though there is a lot in the White Album to fit many moods. I think that each Beatles album reminds the listener of a certain time in their life, and so each album can be a "favorite" depending on the time of year or situation that is going on. There are only two songs by the Beatles that I hate...Everybody's trying to be my Baby and Mr. Moonlight. Other than that, each album has a special place in my CD player depending on what time of year it is.
It would definately have to be a toss up between "We Can Work It Out" and "Strawberry Fields Forever". I remember them from my childhood when they were new songs and they bring back warm comforting memories. But then again, most all of the Beatles songs bring me some sort of comfort.
I have always loved "For No One" and I say it is my favorite when asked. But there is "I Will", Eleanor Rigby" and last but not least " In My Life" I still cry when I hear that song.
There are different things about each song that make it "the one". I love the reverb intro and guitar work on I Feel Fine. But then the heart of In My Life is untouchable for an emotional ride. I just finished the Anthology, after not seeing it for years, and it still resonates as a chronicle of my youth. But, it did break my heart to see George and know that he's gone now. I'm so glad they did the Anthology before it got down to only two Beatles. So...that doesn't answer the question exactly. I guess it doesn't have to, it's The Beatles.
I think that most Beatles songs are great and, depending on my mood, I have many favorites. However, my two favorites would be I Saw Her Standing There, which evokes a more innocent time in my life, and In My Life, which is so profound. I could probably list about 20 other songs, but those are the two which are my all time favorites.
It's a lot easier to reply with the least favorite song.(i only have one:Only a Nothern Song.I Hate it) There are so many outstanding songs, and most of them have a very profound meaning with their fans.I'll list my top 5 but this list goes on and on.... 1 In My Life 2 We Can Work It Out 3 Strawberry Fields 4 You Won't See Me 5 Ticket To Ride Man,there's just too many.....
It's true... it is much easier to come up with songs that you don't like rather than narrow down a list of faves - My brother in law can't stand Savoy Truffle, & I am not so fond of Yellow Submarine. Of course, there is no Beatle's song that I totally detest. How could I? I can appreciate the named favorites already listed (& I noticed that In My Life is a recurring theme), so I'll throw a few random honorable mentions in the group... If I fell always makes me smile. Lady Madonna touches close to home. Paperback Writer is catchy. And Birthday comes in handy as a bellowing wake up tune for loved ones on their special day!
In no particular order... "Julia" "I'm Only Sleeping" "This Boy" "The Long And Winding Road" "Till There Was You" "Something" "The Fool On The Hill" "Michelle" "The Ballad Of John And Yoko" ...and another hundred i can't think of right now.
Hello again,Is anyone aware that the song In My Life was voted the greatest song of ALL TIME by it's peers? Not the greatest rock and roll song,or love,,jazz, blues or country song. But the greatest song of all time!
