By default my blackberry views the ebay's mobile site, however I want to be able to view the regular full website that I can look at right here on my computer. Does anyone know how to change these settings, or know what I can do to get around it? Any help is appreciated.
1) At the bottom of the mobile eBay page is a link to change the view to "Classic"
2) In the browser options (hit "O" while the browser is open) go into "Browser Configuration. Scroll down to "Emulation Mode" and change it from "Blackberry" to either "Microsoft IE" or "Netscape". Also make sure that "Content Mode" is set to either "WML & HTML" or "HTML only". After you've done this, save the changes. Now eBay (and any website that checks for mobile browsers) will now load their full versions.
3) You could also consider installing the Opera Mini browser. It makes for a great web browsing experience.
I have a Curve and love it I chose the one with the wifi adapter in it and bought a bluetooth GPS reciever for it seperate. I have a Motorola S9 STEREO BlueTooth Head Set, 4 Gig Memory Card and also spent the extra $250 on ebay for the CELLUON BLUETOOTH LASER PROJECTED INFARED KEYBOARD. It is the best phone I have bought and want to upgrade to the new BOLD 9000, but can't afford an unlocked one right now at the moment. I also installed the NES EMULATOR on it and can play any NES (NINTENDO GAMES) on and I also broke down and installed the I-BERRY Theme to make it look like an IPHONE as well.
As far as browsers go I like the opera mini. I also installed a piece of software from Shape Services Called SKYPE IM+ and this allows you to make international calls using skypeout for the price of your plan or minute rate on your phone.
I am going to be installing soon thier RDM+ Which allows you to control your pc anywhere in the world from your blackberry aslong as you have an internet connection being through a data plan or through a wifi connection to your phone.
I am awaiting for slingbox to release thier software for the blackberry and I will be completely all decked out. Shawn
I would suggest going with Opera Mini if you're looking to browse full pages. The default BlackBerry browser on the Curve doesn't do justice. Once you get the shortcuts figured out for the Opera mini browser you can zip around full page sites pretty easily.
I agree with the Opera Mini suggestion. On an 8330, it is really the fastest way to see the desktop version of the ebay page or any other website. While changing the emulation settings on the browser will allow you to see the full version as well, expect to wait quite a bit for the pages to load...
