Maybe because some of us Beemer owners are also Airheads. (For the uninitiated, "airheads" refer to the aircooled Beemer boxer engines and also to the members of the corresponding owners' club Newsletter:"Airmail".)
April 3, 2009: I just dropped by and saw this clinically inane post was still up. Whoever started this silly thread is very sick. Several of us have asked: Why would any sane person care whether they're called 'Bimmers' or 'Beemers?' I'm guessing maybe Rodeo Drive hairdressers might care, but I still wouldn't know why. I own two BMW K-bikes, a K100RS & a K75RT. There are three BMW cars in my yard: My 635CSi, my son's 528i, and my beater, an '83 320i. I call the bikes "The RS" or "The RT." I call the cars: "My car" or "The coupe" when talking about the 635. I call my son's car "The 528", and the beater is "The Beater." I don't care what other people call their cars, or even mine. And, the only reason I might be 'an uninformed idiot' in some people's eyes is because I've just wasted ten minutes, or so, typing out an answer to some jerk in CyberLand who could be dead for all I know. Wow, the Power of the Internet! Amazing!
I do not care about slang names. I own a BMW 530I and refer to it as such. To the comment above mine from1931barry, answer: slimcolo cares, why? because of the uninformed idiots miscalling The BMW automobile slang name. And to the comment above 1931barry answer:slimcolo cares
Whether its a Beemer, Bimmer or Bammer, Who gives a rats ASs? Certainly not me. I got a 94 525 and thats how I say it. If you dont know jack about a 525, dont talk to me. Simple.
HOLEEEEE COW !!! I just entered this community group looking for z3 stuff. Now i think maybe i will need to leave the lights on when i go to sleep. I read a lot of OLD comments to BEEMERS pained expressions, but since it is still up i just could not resist joining the fray. KUDOS to 407iceman37 "QUESTION IS WHO CARES?" SPOT ON. The "BIMMER,BAMMER,BEEMER" comment someone added just MADE me think of BMW owners in ALABAMA! WHAT A HOOT. Anyway, I really needed a good laugh today and I sure enough got a bunch from this deal. Thanks, and keep up the good work all you BMW PERSONS.
