i am having trouble with a 1998 mariner 60hp bigfoot the ball will not pump up tight i replaced the hose and ball but it will not pump up. it has a fixed fuel tank on it if it sits for any length of time you have to get someone to pump ball and turn motor over at the same time. IAM OPEN TO YOUR INPUT ON THIS.i am thinking fuel pump on motor? thank you for your time. doug

Be very careful or this could happen- http://www.evolutionnews.org/ray_robillard_bigfoot.jpg

But seriously, I beleive that year came in either NA (carbureted) or Fuel Injected). In either case first pump the ball a few times and check for fuel leaks. You may find that the fuel line connection at the engine has deteriorated. If carbureted, the most likely culprit is the needle and seat, you may need to rebuild, if FI you can rebuild the pump. The ethenol blend in most fuels is causing trouble with the older fuel systems. Once you complete the repair make sure you use an additive like Startron whenever you add new fuel. If you send serial and model numbers I can help you find any parts you might need.
