Help... was driving fine, now won't start, turns over, but will not fire. How much voltage must the battery have before it disengages funcitons? Any suggetions... I can hear the fuel-pump motor when key is turned...???
do u have a key that has a chip in it can go bad i had a camero that did that if not that make sure your getting spark take u a paper clip and put in the coil wire and have someone try to start it while you put it close to the coil see if it sparks
HI iI'm new to the neighborhood but hope you find this helpful. My experience was a broken wire on the lock cylinder on the steering column. It's a common problem with these cars. It detects the chip resistance in the key chip and allows the car to start. I would check the codes,you will probably find a code 27 in the diagnostics. Good luck.
Any Cadillac made for 1977 and later is crap. (downsized, flimsy plastic everywhere in the car, unnecessary emissions crap and lack of space under the hood to make repairs) Then in the 1980's Cadillac made cars from hell (HT 4100 head gasket blowing SOB that requires cooling system tablets, L62 V8-6-4 engine in 1981 where the electronics dont work, pathetic 125 horsepower engines for that big car, Glorified Chevrolet Cavalier's, defective fuel injection and they made the body so small I need a microscope to see the car) then in the 1990's Cadillac is famous for releasing cars with the Northstar engine which is an expensive to maintain & oil leaking SOB as well. Get rid of it and buy a real car like something from the 1960's or early 1970's.
I hava 96 eldo...u shouldn't be able to hear the fuel pump ' tryg' to do its job. MY present problem that i'm still tryg to find out about after years is that the AC housing within the engine compartment is cracking up an pieces are falling out.....since its not a safety issue GM wont do a recall. Please let me know if you find out anything.
