i have a 99 cadillac deville and sometimes the remote entry stops working for some reason. to get into the car, i have to use the key. then once i am in, the interior lights stay off, none of the buttons work on the key fob, and when i turn the key in the ignition, the alarm starts going off. to start the car i ahve to put the key in the door and keep it turned and then put the ignition key in and turn it. also, when this happens my trip meter, average gas milage, average speed, and gallons used all get reset to zero. i thought maybe the battery was bad but the car starts up perfectly and sometimes it will happen if the car sits for as little as a couple hours or it won't happen for days on end. hopefully someone has a solution for me!
I have a 97 ETC eldo that did almost the same thing. I replaced the BCM(Body Control Module) everything started working ok again after that. Spent 150 on a used on on ebay, sure beats the 450$ retail tag.
HAVE YOU TRIED TO REPROGRAM THE KEY FOB? HOLD THE TOP 2 BUTTONS FOR ABOUT 5 seconds in front of your car and then hit unlock button then trunk etc... they should all work if your key fob is good....
