3 of my Great Danes got into a vicious battle the other nite, blood, stitches the works. Police even showed up. I am still rattled. I need to find out about an item. It is a Wand Or Nite- Stick like tool, that gives a shock- kind of like a hand taser to use to break up the fights. If anyone can give me info where to find this it would be greatly appreciated.
You should NEVER shock your pets! What's wrong with you? I understand that animals fight and it's distressing but if it's that bad you should seperate them. I'm not saying to give away the dogs but keep them seperate. One in one part of the house one in another and one in the yard and keep rotating so they don't get bored. I feel bad for your dogs if you can't keep them from fighting and you want to shock them.
(AprilM - MM is a pro-breeder, he's not talking about torture. He's asking for best tatic when he has seconds to pull apart 900 lbs of fighting fury before a human or an animal gets killed.)
MountM - Once the territory fighting starts...ugh. You'll need some intensive training sessions to identify the alpha animal and get it thru to the others that they will always come out on the short end of the stick if they try to challenge the alpha. The alpha gets fed 1st, patted 1st, praised 1st, special bedding, 1st in the truck, etc. Too bad they are so evenly matched you're going to need alot of time working on this, or they'll be alot of vet bills. The great dane was bred to hunt and pull down large animals. You need to be very tough to control an entire hunting pack.
(p.s. MMan posted into the dog area and is getting some training advise from 30 year veterans putting their heads together. Take a look what the pros do with 900 lbs of snarling mayhem. http://forums.ebay.com/db1/thread.jspa?threadID=1000734300&tstart=0&mod=1215957264555)
(p.p.s. MMan has checked the volts on cattle prods, and reported back to his dog group. Volts are way too high for a dogs body weight, designed for a single 900 lb+ animal. If anyone knows a policeman ask what they use for a humans body weight and let the dog group know.)
