Hello to all My Cat Friends! Our shelter spreads the word each Halloween to bring your Black Cats indoors and don't let them out until next week! This sounds so cruel and really hard to believe, but apparently, gang members and troubled teenagers intentionally hurt black cats on Cabbage Night and Halloween. Tragic, but true. Keep your kitty safe!

Being part of a pet community, we know this precaution well. I have 2 black cats and thank God no t/treaters...we are safe here! But thanks for the spreading the word!

Thank you for the great post, sad to think about but it’s so true to keep kitties safe, great advise! I have a black cat that has a white stipe down her belly. She was a stray that showed up at my door one rainy night about 10 years ago and I named her Cookie because she looks like an oreo. I’m always afraid to let her out during Halloween. About five weeks ago she was hit by a car, odd because I’m on a dead end street with little traffic. I thought I would have to have her put down, but she only had a broken jaw, we were blessed she is okay otherwise. Her doctor wired her jaw shut and I’ve been feeding her with a syringe up till about two weeks ago. She eats on her own now and gets the wire taken off in two weeks. Sweet Violette is indoors, but I’ve never been able to keep Cookie in during the day, she sleeps in at night, but after this, she is going to be all indoors, sadly I don’t think the outdoors are safe anymore. Especially on Halloween!

Hi, Mojo! One of my 8 is a black cat, and he also had an incident with a car. Momma (a stray cat) put the kittens inside the engine compartment on a cold night, and this little guy got a terrible paw injury when we fell out and hit some of the moving parts. Pepper lost his thumb, but the Vet saved his foot. If we had not found and rescued him, he would have died from the infection. He limps around, but he is the heavy weight among my herd of boys. I guess they really do have Nine lives!
