I sort of inherited a cat. It did not go well at first but it does now. He balances on top of my side when I sleep and purrs. As a rule- I am not a cat person- but this cat is special!!! :-)
Hello new cat owner! We welcome you to this neighborhood! The cat on my site called the fat rascal is really my cat Riley. My boyfriend (never a cat person!) went with me to the pet store to buy crickets for my sons toad. I picked up this adorable tabby kitten and gave him to my boyfriend to hold while I pretended to be busy looking through my purse. Well, it was love at first sight. He bought him(Riley), all the supplies + a kitty house to go home in. Then later, he bought him one of those high rise cat condos. I hope you enjoy this cat of yours as much as we do ours!
Hello new cat owner! And Congrats....surprising how a turn of events can teach us something about ourselves. The cat was probably spooked and not knowing whats going on at first...(scared)...but you got to be the special one after all if your good enough to sleep and purr on somebody really likes you!
There's alot of us out there that have gone the extra step to rescue-help-rehabilatate our four legged friends so if you have any problems or questions just wanna talk about your new friend please share with us.
Hello pa178015, Welcome. I think you actually learned something that most people who do not own cats do not know. Cats may not be the “social” animal a dog is (aka from packs and tend to follow an alpha, be it dog or human), but they are equally as special, unique and loving.
Your “as a rule” comment likely comes from never owning a cat for a while, yes? Though some people have never and will never see the loving side of a cat (my x-brother-in-law is one. He liked to be rough and mean to them), but if you open up to a feline then you will likely have a fantastic friend, who as a rule likely will not fetch for you, but they will love you, keep you warm and show you a side pure dog lovers never learn of. ;)
Hi new cat owner. I just read David's remark. He D O E S know cats. For most of my life I was a dog lover, but my deceased first wife introduced me to Felix Domestica (domestic house cats). I have had three very special kitties since. The first two lived nearly twenty years, giving love and loyalty continously. The kitty you see pictured, is my third very special friend (yes I spoil her rotten). Her name is Ornery and she lives up to it.
I was a die hard dog person until I got my kitty Axl Rose. He has converted me. I have added a Munchkin kitty(non standard) and her name is Tiger Lily. She is wonderful. I love both of my fur babies!
All cats are special! I've turned several people into "cat people!" My brother, my parents, two husbands, many friends. I hope that you will have as special a bond with your furry friend as other "cat people" do, then you will be hooked! I can't live without my kitties!
Growing up, I always had dogs, but now I am hooked on cats. About 30 years ago, a neighbor was moving away and could not take the cat. Their Siamese would hang out at our yard most of the time anyway and my young kids loved her. So the neighbors offered me the cat, but strategically said it IN FRONT OF MY KIDS. Needless to say, the cat came to live with us. The kids grew up and moved out, but Suzy lived with me for 21 years. Now we have several rescued cats and they are always doing something to make you laugh.
And don't let anyone tell you cats are whimps! They are the most perfect predator - just watch them when they're catching bugs or mice (or your toes under the covers)! They're built to be a predator!
Hey new cat owner, By the time you read this you probably will be so attached to your new kitty you won't be able to sleep without him in your bed with you. The way they lay next to you or on top of you purring is just so comforting and relaxing. I never believed in this before, but please keep him inside unless he has an extremely safe place to hng out. It is terrible what some people have done to cats in our area; mostly gangs of teenagers. So please be careful. No matter what people say, you can also teach cats tricks. My two cats play fetch, run through a tunnel for me, sit up and beg for treats, the list goes on, but I just don't want to brag. Most of all have fun just watching the kitties antics. They do such silly and crazy stuff. We laugh every day just watching what they do.
Cats, What great animals they are. Good luck with your new found friend:) I am a owner of many, they all found me one thrown from a car, one found with bad eye infection etc, they all love me and I am a better person because of them, you too will be.
