Hi all, I have recently rescued a group of kitties (originally nine, but lost one due to malnutrition). I own 30 acres of land and someone had dropped these nine helpless kittens ranging in age from 3 weeks to about 6 weeks. They were very unhealthy and weak. I was able to save 8 of them and have decided to keep all of them. Their names are Tatu, Tigger, (the two oldest), Marty(derived from Smarty Pants), Princess, Patch(my little pirate that growls when he carries his toys), T-Bear(short for an all black Teddy Bear), MT(for Mini Tatu) and my favorite Callie(the only calico who remains very tiny). I have gotten them all wormed and the local vet gave me antibiotics and eye medication to get rid of the leaky eyes and runny noses. I have done the ear cleaning and the mite killing. They are healthy and they follow me in a line as I ring my bell and walk them through the meadow. I have had them now going on eleven weeks and the two oldest (there are six boys and two girls) are ready to be neutered. They are all rapidly coming of age and I just cannot afford the vet costs of getting them fixed. I have three other cats and all are fixed. Queenie is the oldest at 4, Sasha is 2 and Scooter is a 1 year old. (All of my animals are rescued). Is there a program I can apply to for help in this? I believe in pet control and there are so many helpless animals and cruel people (like the ones who dumped these off to die). They have all reached into my heart and I will give them all of the loving care in the world, but I need to get some way of finding assistance in getting over this hurdle of an expense. Anyone who might know of any such group or organization, please let me know. I will be posting pictures of these guys in a day or two for all to see. They are all beautiful. Thank you again so much in advance.

Hello! First off, I would like to commend you on being a really responsible and compassionate person. Do you live in Indiana, Ohio, or Florida? If you do, I'm pretty certain these are the states covered by a mobile veterinary van called NeuterScooter. Their neuter and spays are around $45.00, and they throw in the shots for free. Go to NeuterScooter.com for more details.
I have a houseful of rescued cats and am part of a rescue operation in my town. We get so many (TOO many) kittens each year who need to be spayed and neutered. The vet we work with will do this operation on our kittens as soon as they weigh two pounds. I thought it was impossible to alter them so young, but I've seen my own cats who were neutered at that size grow into huge and healthy boys with NO spraying problems. Your little ones are probably all eligible for surgery at 11 weeks. Very best of luck to you with the kittens!
Go to the "Friends of Animals" website, put in your Zip code and it will tell you what vets accept their certificates (you can buy the certificates online for a fraction of what you would pay just going to your vet. I neutered my dog for the cost of $67 with a certificate from this site, verses $250 that my vet would have charged). They have certs for both cats and dogs. Good luck to you and all your furbabies!
Hi, In my area the local SPCA has a spay-nuerter clinic that includes shots. Have taken all mine their even those that have been dropped off. There doesn't seem to be a limit either.Their just glad owners are being responsible.
Hi, I want to thank all who answered and I have checked online and made some calls. I am in West Virginia (Ritchie county) and I have found a very affordable way of having this done. The least expensive way was with the Humane Society. They take a busload over to a vet in Huntington, WV and you have to pay for their boarding pass up front, and have them ready to go on the date they specify. I assume each county has a specific time of month that they go to this particular Vet's Clinic. The cost is $22 for males and $37 for females. This includes their vaccinations. So for all eight of these, it will run just over $200 which I can afford to do. It's a really neat set-up they have in place for this service. They ride in air conditioned bus and get brought back the next day. Thanks again for the help and guidance to all. Anybody in the state of WV can call the Humane Society in their area for more information and assistance.
