I recently purchased a 1979 Berlinetta Convertible. I have car number 115 out of about 400 total F Body convertibles. I am looking for any one who may lead me to other owners of F Body converts. So far I have located only 6 cars. One in Russia, one in colorodo, one in lousianna, two in Texas, and mine in Texas.
My car is in body shop getting minor repairs, new paint, new windows and windshield. then comes new top and interior. Car is 100% original with about 67,000 miles on it. Cranks first time and runs like new. The interior is red and a bit faded. I will rebuild door panels using some of original fabric from old panels. I will clean seats and install new carpet. The center console is good. I'll repaint entire interior and have a few new nos interior parts to pretty much finish it off. I am estimating about 1 year till car is finished at which time i will enter into small local shows.
I have changed exterior color to match my 81 that I am almost finished with. My wife and I will drive her 79 Berlinetta convetible and I will drive my 81 Camaro to local car shows for a His and Her set of cars. Same color, Same wheels, Same cowel hood, same look. Pretty cool huh? Matching his and her camaros. My wife is excited too.
Hi Apollo4836. There are a couple of 2nd gen convertible owners at the www.nastyZ28.com forum. It is a second gen Camaro website. I have a 1980 Z28 convertible that I am working on restoring. It is a Steas Industries conversion. A little bit different than a NCE conversion. There have been a few convertibles auctioned on Ebay in the last couple of years. You got any pics? indyzmike@hotmail.com
Hello, I've got a 79 NCE Convertible, probably one of the Texas cars you know about. It is yellow and I've had it for about 10 years. Completely restored with a 350 crate motor. My e-mail address is 79camaro@austin.rr.com
Please send me a pic, or two, and I'll do the same. Are you in Texas too. Later, Ken, Bastrop, Texas
Hi, im from Montreal Canada. I bought a 1979 convertible camaro from a garage a street away from my house. This guy had 3 camaro's. Only one was convertible. The engine is an edelbrock with a Holley carburator. Im not good with engines but im sure its got big torque. So that makes me number 7. Right now i stored it under a tempo. Winters here are pretty bad so..Im planing on taking it out for transformers 2. And maybe do a few burnouts....

I wrote an article on wiki that you all may find useful. It shows that NCE was one of several companies converting '79-81 F-bodies into convertibles. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. -Slim
