1980 Corvette - Sell whole or part it out?

My brother has a mint condition 1980 Corvette that he bought with less than 1,000 miles on it. He drove it a little bit, but then hit a fence when he went off the road and damaged the front driver's side. He didn't have insurance on it so now he's forced to either fix it or sell it. It needs about $4-5,000 in parts alone. He doesn't really have the money for it. Would you recommend trying to sell it damaged or to just piece it out. The engine has 5,047 original miles and the rest of the car is in pretty good shape. I've tried selling it in my area for $4,000 and little interest. Thanks.

email me gsegarage@kc.rr.com and we'll discuss this. I have several 80's and could use a nice interrior and other parts. Is the hood ok?
