Can anybody help me? I'm considering buying some stock 2005 wheels and tires from a guy that upgraded. Like new condition. Will they fit ok on my 1990 and will it effect my speedometer? If so, how about using the wheels with a different tire? My wheels are starting to look pretty bad.
well,i would want to say that they would because the bolt size is the same and the fronts are 18" and the backs 19" for a set of 05' wheels and for 90' they were 17" all the way around.I have an 88' vette and i put a set of 2000 vette wheels on it which are 17" in front and 18" in back and there is still plenty of room around the wheel,i think i could put 19" on mine and be fine. The only thing is the width i dont know how wide a set of 05"wheels are.
The tires on my 2005 coupe are rears 285/35/19, fronts are 245/40/18. I would stick with the factory size wheels. I have had friends that went with larger wheels only to go back to the original stock wheel. Bigger wheels might cause you to spend more money for bigger tires. It's not uncommon to spend $1600 for tires. The best price on tires will come from Bridgestone or Firestone (same company). They might not be the run flat tires. I have 3 corvettes and since I don't race I can live with non-run flat tires. They are quieter and smoother, plus half the cost.
