Measure your wheel base on your 1950 and buy the appropriate donor!

Once you have measured your wheel base IE: from center of front spindle with wheels exactly straight.. to the center of the rear axle then you can determine a donor. I have a 1986 S-10 Blazer 2wd and mine measures 100 inches center to center. A friend of mine has a 1989 S-10 truck 2wd short bed and his measures 101 inches. Hope this has helped & good luck! John

This sounds like a pretty descent swap. I have seen a chevelle frame under a 49 chevy it had a lower stance. With no susp, changes. The man told me the truck drove and handled great with a car's ride. But that is merly prefurance.Consider moving the frame perches. This will limit cab and bed changes. As far as frame length 'c' cut frame to fit well base of existing truck and weld it up for a better factory look. the only other thing you will have to do then is cut drive shaft or have one made.hope this helps.PS : good luck

A good web site with a lot of good S-10 information for your truck is www.ad-engineering.com give it a try.

I used a 89 S10 frame from a club cab .Had very little problems except mount for steering,i used a DD adapter and will make up a bracket to frame for stability.Keep on truckin'

I was going to do the same swap on my 52 gmc.
It was recomended to me by other car people, to box the 52 frame
would be less trouble than a total swap.
I discovered that the wheel base on the 78 impala in my back yard
and the 52 wheelbase only had a half inch difference.
Hope this helps.

hey im doing the swap right now if you have long bed you need to use a long bed s10 or an ext cab s10 any year will work the frames are the same from 83 to 04 and the only thing you need to do is cut off the old cab mount front and rear and us 4 inch blocks to rise the cab and you need to do about a 2 inch body drop on the bed you can see how mine is coming just go to my myspace at myspace.com/tuckerscotton let me now how it goes i think if you have a sort bed then you should be able to use a sort bed or a standered cab not 100% sure about that tho mine is a long bed
