I have a 94 chevy 350 tbi and I wanted to know if I can take the intake from a 1986 305 tpi and put it in the 350 and drop the 350 in the camaro. Does anyone know if this would work? would I have to get a new ecm if this works? one for a 350 instead of the one for a 305
ya you will need injectors the 305 units are right to the limit, unless you want to try an adjustable regulator and bump it up a few psi. But didn't the 5.7's use a bigger (higher volume) fuel pump also?( sucks gettin old ....can't remember all the finer details ...lol)
I'm doing a TBI to TPI on my 91 k2500. So far all I have done is got a bigger fuel pump but my swap was an 86 tpi out of a Camaro to the tbi of the 5.7 which both are. To go with the 305 tpi to a 5.7 you need bigger injectors and a higher pressure fuel pump. I should be firing mine up this weekend. Also get a high performance chip for the ecm there is one person on ebay that sells them for a reasonable price. IF I get the name I'll repost it here
just wanna be sure I'm understanding your swap after reading some of this ...... the current 305 is tpi? ..already in the camaro?.. if so ..you basically are jacking up the intake and sliding a bigger 5.7 block under it ?..if that's the case ..injectors and a chip( double check the fuel pump requirement at chevy... they may or may not be the same output volume/part number, sometimes you can cheat it with the adjustable regulator)gotta stop doin this so late at night ...lol oh..and anyone know if this uses the same mass air flow sensor ?(if your system is mass air not speed density)
the intake will bolt on, u need a bigger fuel pump tbi run alot lower fuel pressure than tpi does, u will need injectors for a 350, it is best to get the computer for a tpi as well, the tbi is basicly a carb with 2 injectors on top and a tpi is a dry intake with 8 injectors going into each cylinder, so the tbi computer will be lost with out a chip change
