Lets see, I am a guy so "partied" not sure if thats what you would call it but have personally met and mingled with many ! See my autograph blog under "best CONCERT" ! I did party with RONNIE JAMES DIO (RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH etc) great down to earth guy who knows me on a first name basis, Partied backstage on several occaisions, ate and drank and indulged in... how shall I say this ? in "aromatic therapy" it was pretty close to 4:20 eastern time if you know what I mean ! ? A couple of members of BOSTON were also present along with DOUG ALDRIDGE (DIO, WHITESNAKE) and SIMON WRIGHT (AC/DC, DIO, UFO) and JIMMY BAIN (RAINBOW,DIO etc).....
YEAH I UNDERSTAND THE THERAPY AT 4:20 LOL... ( REFLECTING ON ARLOS BUS ) THEY ARE A GOOD GROUP OF GUYS FOG HAT. WAS DURING THE ERIC CHRISTIAN CARTWRIGHT ERA. WAS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED IN BILLY JOELS REQUESTS AT THE BAR... NOT MUCH RESPECT FOR HIM AFTER THAT HE WAS A MESS
SPARKLES, U have lived quite a life! luv ya gurl! Now my turn- I've drunk with Nuclear Assault, danced on the speakers at Faith No More show, hung out with 7seconds, Agnostic Front, the Vandals, Sick Of It All, Dead Lights, Coal Chamber, and The Swans consoled me after the most dramatic break up of my life. Met POD. RATT, the Misfits signed my car registration, & Alex Trujillo winked at me at Ozfest. I know I've forgotten some of the good memories too. That's my classic rock. I got backstage at Sting but didn't see him before security saw me. lol
I worked at the Fillmore East for a couple of years. I went to many after show parties. And I was just a bouncer. Some bands treated you well, (knowing the value of good security), and others not. I did have a great time at a Duane Allman birthday party at Max's Kansas City in Manhattan. The whole band was very nice to me. My first taste of southern hospitality. Humble Pie were great too. Peter Frampton is a funny, intelligent, and really nice guy. I've talked with Eric Clapton and John Mayall after a Bluesbreakers show they did. Jerry Garcia and Phil Lesh knew me by name. The Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Frank Zappa, to name a few more, were all very friendly towards me and invited me to after show parties. I'm starting to get a little depressed with all this reminiscing. I wonder if they remember me with such fondness?
Interesting topic. If we're counting 70's has been when they performed in the 90's.... a friend and I had tix to the Moody Blues in Atlanta w/backstage passes. She knew they always stayed at the Ritz Carlton, and so we went. And there they were. Most of mine are/ were local bands I do/ have support(ed).
wow this did turn out to be an interesting post.. you Folks have some great stories ! I look forward to reading a few more.. lol... re; Duane Allman .. my daddy was a big readneck..and a drinker.. and aparently he worked with Buddy Yokeum i think i got the spelling right.. used to work with him in the late 1960s in a junk yard buddy owned or buddy used to pull parts for him.. Dad was a stock car racer in sarasota and a bodyman.... well buddy was traveling with Charlie Danials band.. and dad got to hang and party with them for a while outside tour bus. out comes this wasted dude with two black eyes .. was a mess long haired.. and my dad looks at charlie and says... whos THIS ' @$$hole ? all billigerant and suchs.. lol Buddy whispers to him.. thats Duane Allman ... he dates Cher ... i might be off on a couple things there but thats basically how i remember Daddy telling me the story.. it was at the bluegrass festival in wheeling w.v i believe.. years ago.. well round the Cher era
